April 8, 2006 will be the one-year anniversary of the Mental Masturbator (a title shamelessly lifted from a Sammy Hagar song). On that date, I will be changing formats and maybe even the title of the blog.

There will also be a big surprise. It will reveal a little bit about me, but that is of no importance. No, the biggest news will expose illegal fundraising by the Democratic party that only I, and about a dozen others know about. Though dated - the incident occurred in 1996 - I'm sure that it will still provide insight into the nefarious relationship between the Democrats, the teachers union, and the Cook County (Illinois) Department of Education. Did I mention that Al Gore and Steven Baldwin were there?

So tune in on the 8th for the big news. In the meantime, there will be a hiatus from this site for the next five days, unless something big happens.

Hezbollah Penetrates Southern Border, Mass Media Ignores FBI Testimony

FBI Chief Robert Mueller testified before the Senate on Tuesday stating that Hezbollah is in the United States. I tried to find the actual Senate testimony but time constraints prevent me from doing that at this time. It would have been much easier if the mass media (not mainstream anymore) had covered the testimony. Unfortunately for citizens of the US, the mass media are open-border advocates, and bad news on the Mexican border is purposefully censured.

I've been working on a post which compares the rhetoric supporting slavery in the US, and the arguments used by the open border crowd to justify mass immigration. While taking a break, I decided to check Townhall. Good thing! I found this gem from Thomas Sowell.

It got me thinking. We have such a surplus of food that we are paying farmers not to grow. Next time some idiot claims that we need illegals to grow crops, I'll hand them a copy of the latest farm bill.

GUEST WORKER AMNESTY UPDATE

Halls of Shame, Senate Judiciary Committee Passes Massive Guest Worker Amnesty Program Would Destroy American Dream for American Workers and Families
As you have undoubtedly heard, the Senate Judiciary Committee last evening approved an amnesty guest worker program modeled after the worst of all possible alternatives, the McCain-Kennedy legislation. Not to be outdone, Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) successfully advanced an amendment to provide amnesty for some 1.5 million illegal alien agricultural workers.
Incredible as it may sound, the Judiciary Committee took this action even as the Government Accountability Office (GAO) was issuing a devastating report on border vulnerability to terrorism. The report revealed that its investigators had successfully smuggled enough nuclear material across both the Mexican and Canadian borders to assemble two "dirty bombs." Even more incredibly, the GAO investigators smuggled their cargo not in some remote unguarded sector of either border, but through regular "secure" border crossings.
What follows is a short synopsis of the highlights of the Judiciary Committee bill approved yesterday:

Citizenship for Sale and for Free

General Amnesty (Graham R-SC, Kennedy D-MA Amendment)
All 12 million currently resident illegal aliens would be permitted to apply for a work visa after paying back taxes and a $1000 penalty.
The visas would last for three years and be renewable for three more years.
After the forth year, these 12 million newly-minted legal aliens-their family members who will ultimately be permitted to join them pushing the numbers through the roof-would be permitted to apply for a green card setting them on a path for citizenship.
Approved 12-5.

Yesterday's Villains include Senators Arlen Specter (R-PA), Sam Brownback (R-KS), Lindsey Graham (R-SC), and Mike DeWine (R-OH) who joined all Democrats by voting for the most sweeping amnesty in American history.
Cowardly Lion Award goes to Senator Orrin Hatch (R-UT) who was conveniently out of the room and did not vote.

Agricultural Worker Amnesty (Feinstein D-CA Amendment)

All 1.5 million illegal alien agricultural worker would receive a new "blue card" that would allow them to remain in the United States as long as they work in agriculture for a small portion of two years.
Following this period all of these 1.5 million newly-minted legal aliens-their family members who will ultimately be permitted to join them will at minimum double the numbers-would be permitted to apply for a green card, placing them on a path toward citizenship.
Approved 11-5 on a roll call vote (votes by Senators not immediately available, but mirror those of the general amnesty vote above).

Guests Who Never Have to Leave (Kennedy D-MA Amendment)

Provides 400,000 new guest worker visas annually.
New guest workers given renewable 3 year terms of work authorization.
Following 6 years, the new "guests" may apply for green cards, placing them on a path toward citizenship if they can show that they are learning English and pass background checks.
Approved 11-6 by roll call vote (votes by Senators not immediately available but mirror those of the general amnesty vote above).

In-State Tuition for Illegal Aliens Anyone? (Durbin D-IL Amendment)
Repeals current law barring in-state tuition for illegal aliens unless the same benefit is made available to out of state residents.
This will effectively require middle and lower income Americans to directly compete with illegal aliens for limited freshman class seats at state colleges and universities.
Approved by voice vote.

Invitation to Overstay Visas

Decriminalize Visa Overstayers Anyone? (Durbin D-IL Amendment)
Makes overstay of a visa-40 percent of all illegal aliens are visa overstayers-a civil violation and removes all criminal penalties.

The organizers of the "pro-criminal, we hate the USA" rallies which occurred across the country (these photos are of the LA rally) last weekend, urged participants to leave the Mexican flags at home and bring US flags only. It looks like some of them listened...kinda.

Enough bloggers who use blogspot now use "word verification" to prevent comment spammers that comment spam is almost non-existent. I've received one in the last two months.

I think that the word verification feature is cumbersome, and it often doesn't work on the first try. This is the reason I never used it. I prefer to contact the offenders directly to tell them that they will be reported to their Chamber of Commerce and the Better Business Bureau.

Then I did it. Though I'm sure defensive measure of word verification deserves the lions share of the credit for the decline of this deplorable practice, it is still a defensive posture. To me, that is the worst position to be in. It also degrades the authority of consumers of the blogosphere.

You see, my first-year economics professor, Dr Sexton, was definitely from the Austrian School. The way he explained it was thus (you'll have to forgive me for paraphrasing, it's been twenty years): The barter system is a product of human evolution. Humans then became sophisticated enough to use money to represent wealth instead of, for instance, trading a pig for a few bushels of wheat. This became known as capitalism. Capitalism is as natural to humans as waking in the morning. All other wealth-distribution schemes are just that...schemes.

Anyway, as capitalism is so near to the state of nature of man, it is also the most free. With that much liberty, the individual consumer is "Captain of the Economy". Only I get to decide where my wealth goes or doesn't go. That puts me in charge. That puts me on offense. To cede that position without even a word of protest is indicative of reaction rather than proaction*.

To me, word verification penalized consumers when who should have been penalized were the spammers. In other words, bloggers who use word verification willfully punish themselves, and the jackasses run off scott-free.

Regardless, I'm glad their gone.

*Is that even a word? Well it must be. I wrote it. Pretty good line though, n'est pas? (Oops, no French. How about "como no?")

Also, here I could expound on how individual consumers lost most of our command when the US removed itself from the Gold Standard in 1971 (or thereabouts), but it would muddle the message.

Libertarian Presidential Candidate Harry Browne Dead at 72

Harry Browne, the Libertarian Party candidate for president in 1996 and 2000, has died at the age of 72.

Though I voted for him, I didn't consider him a powerful candidate. His message, though correct, sounded like I wrote it. I freely admit to being rude and bombastic, but I'm not running for office.

Now is not the time to criticize Mr. Browne however. Rest in Peace my friend.

Redefining Democrats and Other Things

For weeks now I have been making fun of Democrats who have penises, but no testicles. Indeed, much ado is being made, at least in Conservative circles, about the "sissy-fication" of the American male. Talkshow host Michael Savage for instance, said words to the equivalent of, "We teach our boys to be metrosexuals, and they [Islamofascists] teach theirs to be murderers. Who's gonna win that war?"

Well a couple of days ago, I heard Rush Limbaugh use the phrase "The New Castrati" to describe this breed that feels more than they think. It stuck. Now I no longer have to go through painful written gymnastics to describe Leftist "males". Yea!

Describing myself as a classic liberal is rather cumbersome as well. I've called myself a libertarian in the past, but most people have no idea what that means. Besides, "liberal" is accurate, and more descriptive than "libertarian". The problem is that at some point in our past, the word "liberal" was taken over by socialists. This probably occured as an old "bait and switch" move by FDR in the '30's in an effort to softsell socialism to a desperate populace, without the messy questions of why the New Deal is unConstitutional. Unfortunately, he succeeded in more ways than one.

Regardless, I want the word back. Do I have to ask the New Castrati and their wacko female comrads to stop using the word? Will I have to ask normal people to quit making fun of liberals, as there is a new definition for the word?

Bah! Too much trouble.

U.S. Senate Debates Immigration Legislation

FAIR's Exclusive Eyewitness Account of Today's Committee Action
What follows briefly summarizes the day's events:

Sen. Feinstein (D-CA) expressed worry about the direction of the committee sessions were heading. She made the point that previous guest worker program have not stopped illegal immigration and even may have acted as a magnet. She described an amendment she is drafting for future discussion that would create a limited to agricultural guest worker program.

The elements of the amendment are as follows:

Illegal agricultural workers could get amnesty (a blue card) with a path to citizenship
Eligibility for temporary status would require proof of agriculture work for 100 days per year for 3 years
Eligibility for permanent residence status would require proof of work in agriculture for 100 days per year for 5 years
Proof of employment would be provided by employer
Employers would be required to keep detailed records for 3 years
The program would be capped at 300,000 per year
The program would sunset after 5 years
Blue card holders could bring spouses and children to the United States and they would be given work permits
DHS would set an application fee

Sen. Specter (R-PA) remarked that the McCain-Kennedy amnesty was unfair since it would allow illegal aliens to leap frog ahead of those applying for green cards through legal channels.
Sen. Kennedy (D-MA) responded arguing that Sen. Specter's "gold card" program created a subclass in American society.

Sen. Leahy (D-VT) offered an amendment to § 114 of the Chairman's bill, which authorizes the Department of Homeland Security to help Mexico secure it's southern border. Sen. Leahy's amendment, a revision of one discussed last week, authorizes the State Department to withhold funding under this provision to countries engaged in human rights abuses
The amendment was approved by voice vote.

Sen. Durbin (D-IL) again raised an amendment offered last week to delete the provision in the Chairman's bill that criminalizes illegal presence in the U.S. He argued that people should be punished for conduct rather than status.
The amendment was again set aside.

Sen. Durbin (D-IL) again raised an amendment offered last week to exempt humanitarian groups from the alien smuggling provisions in the Specter proposal. Senator Kyl (R-AZ) argued forcefully that there is documented evidence of smugglers using the pretext of humanitarian assistance to bring illegal aliens across the border.
The amendment was set aside.

Sen. Specter (R-PA) made a statement asking the committee to consider what to do with 11-13 million illegal aliens. He expressed worry that if Majority Leader Frist (R-TN) brings his own bill to the floor of the Senate on March 27, chaos would ensue. Senators Kennedy (D-MA), Biden (D-DE) and Specter (R-PA) then discussed at length how the committee needed more time.
Sen. Kyl (R-AZ) made the point in response to this discussion that what the committee should really be considering is a guest worker program where the "guests" actually are required to return after the guest work period instead of being given a path to citizenship.

Sen. Cornyn (R-TX) expressed his concern that we as a nation cannot accept virtually everyone in the world who wants to come to the U.S. He reminded the committee that the public feels that they were fooled by the 1986 amnesty because the government failed to enforce employer sanctions.

Sen. Coburn (R-OK) suggested splitting up the bill into two parts; border security and the rest.

Sen. Durbin (D-IL) said committee members should pressure Majority Leader Frist to give the committee more time on the Specter proposal.

Sen. Sessions (R-AL) stated that an enforcement only bill would build public trust. He suggested that the Senate should pass an enforcement bill and take the summer to examine other issues.

Sen. Sessions (R-AL) offered an amendment to include alien smuggling to the list of crimes covered by the money laundering statute, allowing seizure of smuggling-related assets.
The amendment was approved by voice vote.

Sen. Grassley (R-IA) voiced objections to committee consideration of amendments planned to be offered that address social security-related issues. He insisted that these were matters within the jurisdiction of the Finance Committee he chairs.
This issue remains unresolved.

Sen. Sessions (R-AL) offered an amendment reaffirming the right of state and local authorities to enforce immigration laws. Sen. Specter offered a modification to the amendment to limit the right to enforce to "criminal" immigration laws.
The amendment and the modification were approved by voice vote with the understanding that Sen. Sessions might attempt to restore the original language.

Sen. Sessions (R-AL) offered an amendment relating to information sharing involving multiple agencies including the social security administration. Sen. Grassley objected to consideration of the amendment in the Judiciary Committee instead of the Finance Committee he chairs.
The amendment was set aside.

Sen. Sessions (R-AL) offered an amendment to permit adding information to the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) database. A modification to allow erroneous information to be deleted from the NCIC database was accepted.
The amendment was approved by voice vote.

Sen. Sessions (R-AL) offered an amendment requiring DHS to encourage state and local law enforcement agencies to participate in cooperative immigration law enforcement programs. A modification was offered to reaffirm the voluntary nature of state and local participation and to affirm that enforcement of immigration laws under the program would include all immigration laws, not just alien smuggling laws.
In the absence of enough Senators to approve amendments, the amendment was set aside.

Sen. Sessions (R-AL) offered an amendment to add detention space for holding illegal aliens.
In the absence of enough Senators to approve amendments, the amendment was set aside.

Boy, they're having a hell of a time with guest workers and amnesty.

If no agreement on a bill is reached in committee, Senator Frist has promised to bring his own enforcement only bill to the floor for debate beginning March 27.

Call Senator Frist and Tell Him to Keep His Promise.

Even though the Judiciary Committee will meet again tomorrow to work on the Specter guest worker amnesty proposal, it is highly unlikely the committee will complete mark-up of the bill before the beginning of next week's recess and the start of full Senate debate the following week on Monday, March 27.
In order to prevent any backsliding on his promise to bring up an enforcement only bill on March 27, call Majority Leader Frist and let him know that you are counting on him to keep his promise to bring up enforcement only legislation no later than March 27.

Ports Deal Gets Incestuous, Nepotic, and Expansive

I found this on the DP World web site (note the dateline),

Dubai, 24 January 2006: - Global ports operator DP World today welcomed news that one of its senior executives, Dave Sanborn, has been nominated by US President George W. Bush to serve as Maritime Administrator a key transportation appointment reporting directly to Norman Mineta the Secretary of Transportation and Cabinet Member.

Well isn't that convenient? Of course, there's no proof that this has anything to do with the ports deal. Wink-wink, nudge-nudge.

Debbie Schlussel finds that even nepotism has reared its ugly head. She writes,

If you liked Billy Carter, you'll love Neil Bush. No beer products and advertising or redneck wit and wisdom. But the situation's the same. Neil Bush is in bed with Dubai and its confederation, the United Arab Emirates (UAE). He's getting money for it solely because he's the President's brother. And it's disturbing.

Neil Bush is a frequent visitor to and paid speaker in Dubai, showing up there right after 9/11 trying to get investors for his failed Ignite! educational software company. While there, "[Neil] Bush held talks with Dubai's Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashid al-Maktoum and Information Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed al-Nahyan on the 'world economy in light of recent events, as well as higher education in universities," Arab American Business reported. Bush was in Dubai so much that he e-mailed his wife of his desire for a divorce from his Dubai hotel room.

(Bush's relationship with the Dubaian and UAE royals has a lot to do with his Syrian-American Ba'athist boss, Jamal Daniel, who paid him $60,000 a year for only a few hours work. Bush's marriage to his second wife was held at Daniel's palatial Houston mansion.)

At a Saudi speech, he encouraged conferees to expand lobbying and PR efforts to change "perceptions" about the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. One wonders if the content is similar at his meetings and speeches in the Emirates. At least Billy Carter was a lot more aw-shucks honest. ("The only thing I can say is there is a hell of a lot more Arabians than there is Jews.")

It's not just Bush's paid speaking engagements courtesy of Dubai's Datamatrix. While Neil Bush is prominently displayed on the company's website (and listed as "Brother of US President George Bush"), so are Clintonistas Al Gore and Sandy Berger (he of document pants-stuffing fame).

It's also Neil Bush's paid speeches to the Zayed Center, which was funded by UAE's President, Sheik Zayed bin Sultan al-Nahyan, who recently died. As my friend, Rachel Lea Fish of The David Project, wrote in the Wall Street Journal:
Sheik Zayed also funds the Abu Dhabi-based Zayed Center for Coordination and Follow-Up, a prominent think tank of the Arab League, founded in 1999. The Zayed Center, described on its Web site
"as the fulfillment of the vision of Sheikh Zayed," promotes Holocaust denial, anti-American conspiracy theories and hate speech in its lectures, symposiums and publications. In August 2002, the Los Angeles Times quoted Mohammed Murar, the executive director of the Zayed Center, saying about Jews that "the truth is they are the enemies of all nations." His comment came on the heels of a Zayed Center report stating that "the Zionists are the people who killed the Jews in Europe."
The Zayed Center has a history of giving Holocaust deniers like David Irving a forum to promulgate their ideas. In 1998, Sheik Zayed's wife donated $50,000 to finance the defense of infamous Holocaust denier Roger Garaudy in a French court.

In April 2002, the Zayed Center hosted Thierry Meyssan, the French author of "The Appalling Fraud," which claims that the U.S. military staged the 9/11 attacks. The center translated Mr. Meyssan's book into Arabic, hailed its publication and widely advertised the work. A month later, Lyndon LaRouche, the fringe political figure who has made disparaging remarks about Judaism, was an honored guest. Just last month, the center hosted Umayma Jalahma, a professor of Islamic Studies at King Faisal University, who declared: "The Jewish people must obtain human blood so that their clerics can prepare for holiday pastries."

Then I found this on World Net Daily,

Dubai Ports World is scheduled to take over operations at 22 U.S. ports, not six as previously reported by most major media.

According to the website of P&O Ports, the port-operations subsidiary of the London-based Peninsular & Oriental Steam Navigation Co. (P&O), DPW will pick up stevedore services at 12 East Coast ports including Portland, Maine; Boston; Davisville, R.I.; New York; Newark; Philadelphia; Camden, N.J.; Wilmington, Del.; Baltimore, Md.; and Virginia locations at Newport News, Norfolk, and Portsmouth.

Additionally, DPW will take over P&O stevedoring operations at nine ports along the Gulf of Mexico including the Texas ports of Beaumont, Port Arthur, Galveston, Houston, Freeport, and Corpus Christi, plus the Louisiana ports of Lake Charles and New Orleans.

Previously reported have only been P&O Ports' container operations at New York, New Jersey, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Miami, and New Orleans. Stevedore services also typically involve the loading and unloading of containers on and off cargo ships, as well as moving and storing containers, though often in separate facilities from where containers are initially loaded and unloaded from the cargo ships. Thus, while DPW will be operating the container terminal operations of only the six ports initially disclosed, DPW will be managing stevedore services, handling containers at a total of 21 ports, located along the Eastern seaboard from Maine to Virginia, and across the Gulf of Mexico from Texas to Louisiana.

I was going to post on the Crunchy Cons (conservative hippies) today, but I got a letter last night from a friend who was asking for some advice from someone smart, but not so much that they'd lost their common-sense. Naturally, my friend thought of me.

It seemed important and relevant, so I thought I'd share it with my gentle readers. Here is what the letter said (to protect the innocent, I' ll only use initials):

Dear Plumber,

I've got a family problem. You see, I've got this friend...well, he's kinda a friend...anyway, I told him that he could watch my dogs for me while I went on vacation. When I told my wife and kids that my friend, UAE, would be watching the dogs while we were on vacation, they went ballistic!

The problem isn't necessarily with UAE, but with some of his family. His family hates my dogs. If fact, his family not only plots to kill as many of our dogs as possible (puppies and adults), but were even so lucky as to kill 3,000 in one day!

Well, after that day, we decided as a family that we were going to kill those who would kill our dogs. We have been very careful not to go to war with all of UAE's family, just those allied to his second-cousin, OBL. Trouble is, his family is so large that it is impossible to know which members want to kill our dogs.

Another problem is that UAE isn't exactly the most careful person in the world, and when OBL runs short on funds, UAE always gives him a hefty check. UAE and OBL even go golfing twice a month!

My buddies say it's no big deal if I give UAE the keys to the house. They tell me my wife and kids are hysterical. They say it'll be an insult to UAE if I renege now.

My wife and kids say they'll never forgive me, and that their view of me will be forever altered if I give UAE the keys.

I took a day off to go to the Colorado House hearings, which was debating eight separate immigration reform bills. Because of GOP ineptitude and an influx of California leftists (who refused to lie in the bed they shat in), the Dems now control the Legislature, including the The House State, Veterans & Military Affairs Committee where the bills were being heard.

The crowd at the hearing was evenly divided. About half of the people there were in favor of some or all of the bills, and about half opposed, including the Democrat majority.

I must say, Rep Terrance Carroll may be the most worthless Representative on that committee. When he wasn't eating and cracking open soda bottles, he was absent. As this was my first time to a legislative hearing, is it common for a rep to leave several times, for ten, twenty, or even thirty minutes? The only time he spoke was to insinuate that Rep. Dave Schultheis was a racist for suggesting that it would be more cost effective to build schools in Mexico than educate illegal immigrants here. Carroll is not a serious man. His voters were either duped or are idiots.

Rep. Fran Colman should have recused herself from the hearings. Anybody who doesn't know the significance of Plyler vs. Doe has no business voting on immigration bills. At least she pretended to be interested, unlike Carroll, who appeared to be more interested in giving a "shout out" to his homies.

Rep Liston likened El Centro (a day labor criminal enterprise) to a drug deal as the director of El Centro said that they do not check the papers of those who come to be set up with employers. This woman (sorry, I couldn't understand what she said her name is) said that it isn't any of her business if the people she helps are criminals or that setting them up with employers is also illegal. She just provides them with a place to meet. Chairman Paul Weissman stepped in at this point to save this woman's ass. I don't know why, Denver is a sanctuary city. There is no reason to believe that she would be arrested by anybody at any level of government.

Chairman Weissman is a real intellectual dynamo. Who are the clowns that elected this idiot?

I particularly liked this witness,

"We can pick up illegal detainees all day and all night long, and we can transport them to county jails, but nothing is happening to them," said John Patterson of the Colorado Association of Chiefs of Police. "To pass an unfunded mandate down to the sheriffs will raise huge issues. Our jails are full, our prisons are full. We have no place to put these people."

Prior to this quote, Mr. Patterson said of the immigration crisis, "It's absolute chaos." Imagine that! Mr. Patterson, why are the Chiefs of Police opposed to preventing chaos?

Unfunded mandates? Like providing free schooling to illegals (Plyler vs Doe), or free emergency medical care (a Clinton Executive Order)? These two unfunded mandates cost considerably more than incarcerating, and removing from Colorado, foreign trespassers.

Mr. Patterson continues to point fingers for the ineptitude of those he represents. He also refuses to admit that Colorado Chiefs of Police arrest people for felony violations all the time.

He refuses to do anything about the invasion (about 10,000 per day over the Mexican border). The Colorado legislature refuses to do anything. Our RINO governor, Bill Owens, refuses to do anything. Denver is a sanctuary city by Executive Order, and the Mayor (another Democrat) continues to deny that such a document exists. They are all guilty.

So that leaves us, the 80 percent who want something done. This November, Colorado will have a initiative put before the voters. This measure will be demonized by the press, and about a hundred other groups. Anti-reform activists and groups will spend millions of dollars more than their pro-reform counterparts. Ultimately, they will have wasted this money, as taxpayers learn what the costs are for doing nothing.

And one final note to Democrats, you have a chance to place your mark on reform while you control the legislature. If you do nothing, legislation will be written by we reformists, and then taken directly to the voters. We will write an initiative a year till we get what we want. Either join the party in some meaningful way, or you'll be rendered impotent (on top of having no testicles).

This article showed up in Pravda...oops, I mean, the Ft. Collins Coloradoan. The Colorado general assembly, with votes from Californians who refused to lie in the beds they shat in, changed hands recently from the GOP to the Dimocrats.

Apparently the loons have decided to punish employers by forcing them to provide health coverage to their employees. Ft Collins Rep. Angie Paccione (D)will probably vote the bill (HB 1316) out of committee for floor debate.

That's what happens when voters elect candidates (read: Democrats) who care nothing about fairness. The bill is called, ironically: the Fair Share Bill. Laughable, huh?

The bill won't affect all businesses equally (and thus, fairly), only those with 3,500+ employees (about 30 companies) will be required to spend 11 percent of their payroll on health coverage. This of course is the big plus for leftists like Paccione and the idiots who voted for her. Equality of law is a foreign concept to people who would call themselves Democrats. Equality of outcomes is the only type of equality leftists care about; though this bill has more to do with getting back at Walmart and other large employers.

Fortunately, our RINO governor, Bill Owens, will probably veto this abomination (should it pass the Assembly and Senate).

Two side notes:

I hate Walmart because of all the Chinese crap that lines their shelves. BOYCOTT CHINA! I have not stepped into one of their stores since Sam Walton died.
Affordable health care will only happen when government stops subsidizing the industry. IOW, after a successful terrorist attack on DC.

The Vice President shot a man. What a story for the grandchildren! "My grandpa was shot by the Vice President of the United States!" We should all be so lucky.
Riots because of cartoons. In an earlier post I claimed that only Spain possessed MEN in Europe. I was wrong. Apparently there are a couple in Denmark as well. As a show of my utter contempt to the rioters and the "religion of peace", I drew my own cartoon. Unfortunately, though I figured out how to scan it, I haven't yet figured out editing. If it doesn't get me shot, nothing will.

About the Hiatus

Sorry about the hiatus on posting to this site. Not only have I been dealing with my dad's heart surgery, but I have also been helping my inlaws move...in Tennessee.

First of all, dad is going to be fine.

The last two weeks are the longest that I have spent in Nashville. I have been there on previous occasions during Dead tours, but I was never there long enough to get the feel of Tennessee.

I absolutely loved that town and the surrounding area.

For now, I must go watch the Broncos, but rest assured, I tell you all about my visit after the game.

A show of hands. Who has ever read the LA Times?

I did for about three months during my travels in the Southwest part of our beautiful country. I generally tend to eschew the MSM in all of its forms, but hey! I was young.

I wasn't so young that I couldn't recognize shit when it passed beneath my nose. I recognized the pungent aroma after I read my first edition. I promptly wrote a letter to the editor to complain about the bias on nearly every page...even the friggin' pictures (remember the Clinton stunt back in '92 when he and algore stayed up for two days listening to people bitch about the economy? Well the pictures they ran were one of Clinton looking very concerned...I mean, you could just tell that Slick was feeling this poor woman's pain; the other picture was of Bush looking like he'd just thrown up on a Japanese PM.)

Of course the letter never got printed.

Anyway, the Times can hardly give their damned newspaper away. In fact, they are in it rather deep. They have completely alienated conservatives, and so they have lost conservatives. They point to a couple of conservatives on their opinion pages and say, "See? We're not biased".

Well, after they canned one of the Leftist opinion columnists, the nannies got their panties all bunched up. Now, I know that there were some folks at this meeting who have names of the masculine gender. But I can assure you, there were no men there.

If the LA Times editorial staff actually takes the opinions of overwrought and highly emotional women as a rational for making serious, dispassionate decisions, then they deserve the needling of parasites.

Running Afoul: Anti-tobacco Nazi's vs. Liberty

I really didn't know what I was going to do with this story. I even wrote and re-wrote the title for this post three times; and though I'm still not happy with it, it's about as good as it gets. Such is life with the limited vocabulary of a plumber. Don't be fooled! I know no words with more than two syllables. My thesaurus and dictionary are always close at hand. But I digress.

Now this story from the Ft. Collins (CO) Coloradoan (that's right, not Coloradan), pits ever-benevolent nannies against the ever-malevolent individual. Apparently a couple of evil businessmen have been allowing young adults to smoke tobacco, at "their" tobacco store. This is in violation of the pro-health-at-any-cost city ordinance which criminalizes what those prone to evil do on the premises of "their" property.

Sure, we could allow business "owners" the liberty to choose whether or not to allow the evil tobacco leaf to be consumed on "their" property. Sure, we could have allowed "their" employees the liberty to choose whether or not they want to work in a place where the evil tobacco leaf is consumed. And sure, we could have allowed the mass of consumers the liberty to choose whether or not to frequent an establishment which allows the evil tobacco leaf to be consumed. But who would we "save" in this case? Nobody, that's who! Besides, all these choices, and the liberty to pick one of them, are too confusing for the average citizen (Oops! Can I say "citizen"? I mean "subject"). Thank goodness we have the moral clarity of the mob...I mean, the majority...to help individual subjects make these difficult decisions.

Liberty must be abolished if there is the chance that irresponsible and unaccountable people will be hurt, or even die, by there own actions. There is a line, no thicker or permanent than a stream of smoke from an idle cigarette, which separates the liberty of these evil merchants of death and the mass murderers of Nazi Germany. This line disappears with the strike of a match.

The fact that they smoke tobacco through a hookah only confirms their fascist leanings. How? Well, the hookah is mostly associated with the Middle East. And who comes from the Middle East? That's right, Islamofascists. In fact, these merchants of death even decorated their torture chamber with a Middle Eastern "feel".

Yea, let this proclamation be heard throughout the city: Extremism, in defense of health, is no vice! Liberty, if it causes one person to be held into account for their own actions, is no virtue!

In Search of House Slippers

First of all, I hope everybody had a fantastic Christmas! Mine was very good. Not because of meaningless gifts, but because my yeast was alive when I proofed it. This made for some fantastic bread and cinnamon rolls. Mmmmm, cinnamon rolls.

Anyway, I spent a full day before Christmas on the phone and in the malls looking for a pair of house slippers for my wife. I searched far and wide for a pair that has a leather sole and not made in China. I even went to Estes Park. Can you imagine moccasins, which have long been associated with American Indians, are made only in China? Maybe they should, in the interest of honesty, call the slippers whatever the Chinese word for them is.

I bemoaned my plight to my Mother-in-Law. Imagine my surprise yesterday, when she gave my wife a pair of slippers. On the bottom of the plastic soles, in prominent letters: Made in China! She purchased the shoes less than an hour after my conversation with her! FUCK!

I love my Mom-in-Law, but I sure wanted to kick her square in her ass yesterday. Nothing she purchased for Christmas gifts is made in the United States. I want to force her to throw every gift she purchased in the trash. I didn't of course, but I did remind her, again, that purchasing goods made in the USA is extremely important to me.

Fortunately, an American Indian friend of mine gave me a pattern so that I can make my wife a pair for her birthday in January. I just need material and some leather tools.

if this were true. I have received numerous emails about this. At first, I dismissed the first couple as the rantings of some of my favorite right-leaning Bush haters. I understand why some people hate Republicrats. For about a decade, I was right there with them. I have since given up on the idea that there will be a viable third party (although discontent within the parties seems to be pretty high).

I've said in the past that Bush should be impeached for not protecting the borders. But this, if true, may be the straw that breaks the camels back.

If Bush did indeed call the Constitution "just a goddamned piece of paper", I will personally call him out.

I have already emailed the White House asking for clarification. I will keep you informed about any responses I receive.

Some Republicans are upset over the ad, saying it goes too far. I could write a dozen more that go even further; and I'd bet dollars-to-doughnuts (whatever the hell that means) that they would destroy the current Democratic party as a serious alternative to the Republican party.

Of course, if the Libertarian's had hundreds of millions of dollars, watch out GOP!

The only thing holding the conservative (of all stripes) movement back is the desire to not spend money on TV before the campaign season. When your battling the MSM though, there really is no way to get a conservative message out to the unwashed masses other than a thirty-second spot during the OC, or a football game.

The leftist movement is imploding before our very eyes...and I couldn't be happier, except for the fact that they are prolonging the war. This commercial should be one of several that warn the public that the giant sucking sound is the left consuming itself. This material falls right into our laps, and the laughable part is that not only are they wrong about, well, just about everything, but that they can't help making sure everybody knows.

As a result of this stupidity (not ignorance, as they have been warned), everything they say can be looked at with scrutiny, and then exploited after the piercing light of reason exposes the cheap material and shoddy workmanship. These days, the light need not even be lit (the "material" smells soured).

The stench alone is worthy of a half-dozen commercials.

It appears to me that the modern liberalism is on its way to becoming conservatism of the 1950's. What liberalism needs is a William F. Buckley Jr. What they have is Noam Chomsky and a political philosophy that enslaves more people worldwide today, than it will liberate in a thousand years.

Maybe this is what liberalism needs however. It has ridden on the back of Marx for about 150 years, and they haven't changed or adapted at all, regardless of the times. Heck, one commenter on this blog, some time back, tried to defend Social Security! Good Lord! This 70-year-old program is going right down the toilet. Ironically, I'll bet she believes in doctor assisted suicide (just for humans, not government programs). Egads.

Anyway, at the risk of losing conservative friends, I'm going to give modern liberals some advise that may help some of them get my vote:

Please look at classic liberalism as an alternative to modern liberalism.
At some point, please realize that for a government to be effective in a country with a growing population, it must be made smaller. Right now, you want just the opposite of what is reasonable.
For Gods Sake! Don't say another word!

John Murtha is being Muther Sheehaned. The Democrats, ever on the lookout for shell-shocked veterans who share their worldview, found one in a "safe" district who was willing to go out on a limb and trust poll numbers. The anti-war MSM continues to build Murtha up, despite an immediate and overwhelming repudiation of what he was proposing.

The vote and the debate up to it basically destroyed Murtha. He is now viewed by most right-thinking citizens as a coward and a quitter. This leaves him with only two choices: admit his mistake and thus exposing himself to an even weaker status; or continue the lie with even more fervor, like he believed it all along.

Since he choose the second option, he can at least claim to have dignity. Too bad he will be viewed as an idiot in about seven minutes.

What the Dimocratic leadership is doing, currently, is telling the coach and his staff that they suck, and they are telling the team that they can't win, even though that team is up by thirty points and it's only half-time.

Here is what it sounds like in the opposing team's locker room,

Asst. coach Abdul: These guy's are a bunch of women! Their own "fans" are against them. Mohammad over-heard the president of the Glee Club telling them that they can't win against us, and they should quit before anymore of them get hurt. The Drama Club made a banner that says that the coach is an idiot!

I told a buddy about my last post and he asked me what the legal definition of treason and sedition are. Well, to be honest, what I knew was limited to the U.S. Constitution and dictionary definitions. After reading the comments of the gonadally-challenged Dimocratic leadership, I was ready to join the firing squad. This is an emotional response to people who hate this Country or whose words can be detrimental to our troops. I'd still like to see Dean or Kerry in a dark alley.

The Dimocratic party leadership is the only good thing happening for the GOP, but I don't give a damn about the GOP. I care only about the men and women on the ground. We are there (Iraq), we must stay till the "War on Radical Islam" is over, and anything that emboldens the enemy, in any way, should not be tolerated. Can you imagine the "pump" our enemies got upon reading Howard Dean's remarks? F**KING BALL-LESS PRICK!!

This male (not man) should be heckled and harassed by hundreds of thousands of citizens, his every waking moment, until he hole's himself up, only to come out after the conclusion of war. But I digress. Emotions should be treated with the utmost disdain with regard to the making, enforcing, and judging the Law.

What is treason? How does one get convicted of treason? What does the Court say about Third Article of the Constitution?

Article Three, Section Three of the Constitution says,

Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. No Person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the Testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act, or on Confession in open Court.

The Congress shall have power to declare the Punishment of Treason, but no Attainder of Treason shall work Corruption of Blood, or Forfeiture except during the Life of the Person attainted.

The last paragraph is straightforward. It means that the descendants of traitors cannot be punished for the crimes of their forefathers. As well, while Congress can confiscate the property of traitors, that property must be inheritable upon the traitor's death.

The first paragraph is the "money" paragraph. It has been argued several time's in our Nation's history. In Ex parte Bollman, the SCOTUS determined that treason is essentially a "military"
offense and that no amount of anti-government speech can qualify as treason, although giving away military secrets can. I guess according to this view, Dean cannot be convicted. I'll bet there are some folks in the Clinton Administration who could...like those responsible for giving military secrets to China and North Korea. The Dim's are lucky that Starr focused on corruption and nepotism rather than National Security.

During the Civil War, Article Three was obviously argued more than a couple of times. The most interesting case was one against a former Congressman Clement L. Vallandigham(Ohio) who had been tried, and convicted (though not a death penalty), before a military tribunal for a speech he gave in Mount Vernon, OH on May 1, 1963. In Ex parte Vallandigham, the SCOTUS said that since the Constitution says nothing about the SCOTUS having authority over extra-legal tribunals (military tribunal), that the decision of said tribunal will stand.

Now what did Congressman Vallandigham say? Boy howdy! It's a doozy! He said,

"that the present war was a wicked, cruel, and unnecessary war, one not waged for the preservation of the Union, but for the purpose of crushing out liberty and to erect a despotism; a war for the freedom of the blacks and the enslavement of the whites; and that if the administration had not wished otherwise, that the war could have been honorably terminated long ago; that peace might have been honorably made by listening to the proposed intermediation of France; that propositions, by which the Southern States could be won back, and the South guaranteed their rights under the Constitution, had been rejected the day before the late battle of Fredericksburg by Lincoln and his minions, meaning the President of the United States, and those under him in authority.
Also charging that the Government of the United States was about to appoint military marshals in every district to restrain the people of their liberties, and to deprive them of their rights and privileges, characterizing General Order No. 38, from headquarters of the Department of the Ohio, as a base usurpation of arbitrary authority, inviting his hearers to resist the same, by saying, the sooner the people inform the minions of usurped power that they will not submit to such restrictions upon their liberties, the better; and adding, that he was at all times and upon all occasions resolved to do what he could to defeat the attempts now being made to build up a monarchy upon the ruins of our free government, and asserting that he firmly believed, as he had said six months ago, that the men in power are attempting to establish a despotism in this country, more cruel and oppressive than ever existed before."

Boy, the only differences between Vallandigham and the modern Dimocratic party leadership is that the Congressman probably had both of his balls, and his opinions are more thoughtful. I wonder, does this mean that we could put Pelosi down in GITMO and try this America-hater in a military tribunal?

No. The SCOTUS ruled a few years later in Ex parte Milligan, that, "the suspension of habeas corpus was unconstitutional because civilian courts were still operating, and the Constitution only provided for suspension of habeas corpus if these courts are actually forced closed. In essence, the court ruled that military tribunals could not try civilians in areas where civil courts were open, even during wartime."

So it looks like we are stuck with these jackasses until we can prove that there is malice (I don't think that the Dim's are smart enough to realize that their words are malicious), or the Court changes the definition of "aid and comfort".

What about sedition? The first instance of sedition in Law goes all the way back to 1798 to the Alien and Sedition Acts. From Wikipedia, "Under the Sedition Act, anyone "opposing or resisting any law of the United States, or any act of the President of the United States" could be imprisoned for up to two years. It was also illegal to "write, print, utter, or publish" anything critical the president or Congress. (It was notable that the Act did not prohibit criticism of the Vice-president. Jefferson held the office of Vice-president at the time the Act was passed.) While it appears harsh to current Americans, the act was actually much more lenient that the traditional British law of seditious libel. For instance:

1)The act required the defamatory words to be false, and it permitted the defendant to plead truth as a defense, unlike traditional seditious libel law, in which truth actually made the offense greater ("The greater the truth, the greater the libel."). In other words, as long as someone uttered or published the truth, he could not be convicted under the Sedition Act.

2)The act required the defendant to know of the defamatory words' falsity. In other words, someone who uttered a falsehood believing it to be the truth could not be convicted.

3)The act permitted the use of a jury to determine both the facts and the law in the case, unlike traditional seditious libel.

Despite these modifications, however, Jeffersonians denounced the Sedition Act as a violation of the First Amendment of the United States Bill of Rights, which granted the right of free speech. Although the Federalists hoped the Act would muffle the opposition, Democratic-Republicans still "wrote, printed, uttered and published" their criticisms of the Federalists. Indeed they strongly criticised the act itself, and used it as an election issue. The act expired when the term of President Adams ended.

So I guess it does't matter what dumbass thing these limp-wristed pussies say, we just have to view them like we might a lunatic who masturbates in the public square; and inform our soldiers that these yellow cowards represent a minority party that will do anything to assure that status.

But I think what we need to do is recognize what we all agree on, which is you've got to begin to set benchmarks for accomplishment. You've got to begin to transfer authority to the Iraqis. And there is no reason, Bob, that young American soldiers need to be going into the homes of Iraqis in the dead of night, terrorizing kids and children, you know, women, breaking sort of the customs of the--of--the historical customs, religious customs. Whether you like it or not...

SCHAEFFER: Yeah.

Sen. KERRY: ...Iraqis should be doing that. And after all of these two and a half years, with all of the talk of 210,000 people trained, there just is no excuse for not transferring more of that authority.

SCHAEFFER: Well, you're not saying we should stop fighting these insurgents?

Sen. KERRY: Absolutely not. In fact, in my plan, I have said very specifically that we need to keep Special Forces capacity. We need to have the ability to go after hard intelligence. We need to chase down Zarqawi. But we do not need 160,000 troops running around the country as a whole, exposing themselves as they are, feeding the notion of occupation. Let me just emphasize this.

The Plumber Get's The Whole Day Off

We are all familiar with the saying "shit flows downhill". When a plumber fits wastepipe, the slope of the pipe usually has a "fall" of two percent, or a 1/4" per foot. To ensure that a pipe has the proper slope, plumbers use a level against the fitting and adjust it before the glue dries. However, when the temperature falls below about twenty degrees, fine adjustments are nearly impossible. Most of the time the fitting stays on the end of the pipe exactly where it is placed. For plumbers who do mostly new construction (no windows, insulation, heat), the best course of action when the weather is very cold is to just stay home. Even soldering in cold weather is time-consuming as it takes longer to get the fittings hot enough to get the solder to "flow" (about 850 degrees).

Well today when I woke up, it was minus eleven degrees f. Now at 10:00 am, it is just seven degrees above. Brrr!

The temperature worked to my advantage last night however. I, for the first time in my life, went to a city council meeting. Even more surprising, I actually addressed the council. What led me to violate my nature (love of privacy, fear of public speaking) requires some background. Here is an email I received a couple days ago,

This is very important. Your help is needed. You can make a difference! We are at a pivotal point in Greeley, Colorado. Tuesday night, December 6, 2005 will be very important. That is when we turn in the petitions supporting the proposal by Ken Buck (the Weld County District Attorney) to place an Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE) office in Greeley.

This resolution only deals with the *criminal* element pertaining to the illegal aliens that are here.

The background is as follows:

Five years ago, an ICE office in Greeley was opposed by the city, so ICE opened an office in Brush. In October of this year, Congresswoman Marilyn Musgrave and Senator Wayne Allard sent letters of support for the placement of an ICE office in Weld County. Ken Buck then petitioned the Weld County board of Commissioners. The Weld County Board of Commissioners passed a supporting resolution.

Three weeks ago the Greeley City Council had this on their agenda. Just before the Council meeting, the open border crowd held a rally in Greeley, it was reported that six hundred showed up. City officials felt the heat and took the item dealing with the ICE office off the agenda. But they allowed citizen input.

When a friend and I showed up at the council chambers at 6:30 we went through a crowd of about five to six hundred, as near as I could tell, they were all illegal aliens, and a few antagonistic, and very angry ring leaders. There were only seven of us that were pro ICE. And it seemed they were very much emboldened by the feeling of intimidating the City Council.

Afterwards they had a rally just to the side of the Council chambers outside. Racist chants could be heard inside "Viva Mexico, Viva Mexico", "Viva La Raza, Viva La Raza" ("long live the race").

We have been gathering signatures on a petition to place an ICE office in Greeley. This is where the pivotal action comes in, if the City Council and Mayor of Greeley cave on this, it will even more embolden the open-border crowd. We have been told by ICE agents, and elected officials that we need large numbers of supporters to show their support. Anyone in Colorado can sign the petition. We also need lots of people to show up at the Greeley City Council this Tuesday December 6, 2005. The council starts at six thirty but we need to gather at about five or so in order to get a seat in front of the illegal aliens.

Viva Mexico? Viva La Raza? WHAT THE F*CK!!! I was so friggin pissed I couldn't see straight. Come hell or high water (or sub-zero temperatures and thirty miles of icy roads), I was going to that meeting.

Now, some of you all live in area's that are minimally affected by the new class of Third-World foreign invaders, so you may be shocked at the fact that I brought a loaded pistol (though I left it in my vehicle when I arrived). There have been incidences here in Colorado where anti-immigration activists have been followed home from events and subsequently assaulted. I was not going to take any chances.

Fortunately no such altercation transpired. With most of the illegals in Colorado coming from Mexico, cold weather is something they try to avoid. This is what happened last night. In fact, there were only four people who spoke out against the ICE office, and about 15 who spoke in favor. The number of the supporters was about thirty, while it looked like about six were there in opposition.

I won't go into what I said because I was later interviewed by a newspaper here in Northern Colorado (I still want some degree of privacy). I will tell you that I made it clear that the new immigrant class is as racist as the Klan, they are now emboldened by their numbers, and that they have no place in civil society.

I guess the only difference between the Third-World, foreign invader racists and the Klan is that the Klan is a fringe group. The foreign invaders have the support of mainstream media, multinational corporations, the Republican Party, the Democratic Party, the Chamber of Commerce, the labor unions, the banks,...................

Oil From Dinosaurs? Finite Supply?

My dad tells me that when he was a kid back in the 40's and 50's, he remembers his teachers telling him, and the rest of his classmates, that oil is the ultimate product of decomposed dinosaurs, sea life, and vegetation. He was also told at that time that there was only about 40 years worth of [salvageable] oil.

I won't go into the folly of public schools and standardized teaching, but suffice to say, I was taught the same thing nearly 40 years later.

Well apparently, nobody actually tested the theory. I recently heard an interview with a fellow on the Art Bell show who actually says that oil doesn't come from dinosaurs, that we have an infinite supply, and that peak oil is a myth.

Talk about being knocked back on my heels. I was like, whoa!

So I did some sleuthing and I found this great article by Chris Bennett, an environmental engineer, who claims that oil is an inorganic byproduct of plate tectonics. Here's how the theory works (from article):

Crude oil forms as a natural inorganic process which occurs between the mantle and the crust, somewhere between 5 and 20 miles deep. The proposed mechanism is as follows:
Methane (CH4) is a common molecule found in quantity throughout our solar system - huge concentrations exist at great depth in the Earth.
At the mantle-crust interface, roughly 20,000 feet beneath the surface, rapidly rising streams of compressed methane-based gasses hit pockets of high temperature causing the condensation of heavier hydrocarbons. The product of this condensation is commonly known as crude oil.
Some compressed methane-based gases migrate into pockets and reservoirs we extract as "natural gas."
In the geologically "cooler," more tectonic stable regions around the globe, the crude oil pools into reservoirs.
In the "hotter," more volcanic and tectonically active areas, the oil and natural gas continue to condense and eventually to oxidize, producing carbon dioxide and steam, which exits from active volcanoes.
Periodically, depending on variations of geology and Earth movement, oil seeps to the surface in quantity, creating the vast oil-sand deposits of Canada and Venezuela, or the continual seeps found beneath the Gulf of Mexico and Uzbekistan.
Periodically, depending on variations of geology, the vast, deep pools of oil break free and replenish existing known reserves of oil.

But of course this isn't news to "unconventional wisdom". Bennettt goes on to quote Dr. J.F. Kenney of Gas Resources Corporation of Houston, TX,

"competent physicists, chemists, chemical engineers and men knowledgeable of thermodynamics have known that natural petroleum does not evolve from biological materials since the last quarter of the 19th century." (emphasis mine)

Somebody better inform the environmentalists, the politicians, and the public school system.

What impact will an inexhaustible supply of petroleum have on environmental politics? What will be the impact on oil markets if this theory is proven? One shudders to think of all of the implications.

Want to shock (and maybe break the heart) your favorite leftist? Tell him or her that oil comes from plate tectonics and that as long as the plates move, we will have oil.

Gang Rape, Chastity Belts, and the Virtues of Multiculturism

Two of my favorite websites are Jihad Watch and its sister site, Dhimmi Watch. I pop over about once a week to see what the "religion of peace" is up to.

Today, I had a certain task in mind. I wanted to find incidences of rape by Muslim men on infidel women as a practice of jihad.

I was shocked and appalled at how often Scandinavian women (and girls) are gang raped by Muslim men. I then did a Google search and found that there are incidences like this world-wide, seemingly daily. It has gotten so bad in Europe that a group of teenage girls has designed, and plans to market a chastity belt.

They apparently need this anti-rape belt because European (except Spain) males have been indoctrinated by liberal equality...that is, equality of outcomes. That means that to be equal to women, they must give at least one testicle to their wife (or mother), thereby feminizing themselves and masculating their women. Unfortunately, no matter how balzy a woman becomes, she is still no match for a group of men with uncut scrotums.

On the bright side, some countries (outside Europe) are actually fighting back against the lunacy of multiculturism.

As evidenced in France last month, Europe (except Spain) is a lost cause. The rest of us still have a chance.

As promised, here is Senator Salazar's response to me regarding Able Danger, the Defense Intelligence unit that identified the 9-11 hijackers before the attacks:

Thank you for writing me about the claim that a secret military intelligence unit called Able Danger identified four September 11 hijackers as al Qaeda members a year before the 2001 attacks. The Pentagon has so far been unable to validate this claim, but a number of service members have stepped forward to support it.
These allegations are extremely concerning and should be investigated fully.
It is clear that our homeland security apparatus was ill-prepared for the September 11 attacks. The 9/11 Commission has made a thorough investigation of what went wrong and I share your concerns that after an initial flurry of activity including the intelligence overhaul bill and the reation of a Director of National Intelligence, Congress and the White House have slowed down in implementing some important reforms recommended by the Commission.
Among the reforms that have yet to be accomplished are properly consolidating terrorism watch lists, clearing more of the radio spectrum for emergency responders and reforming the structure of congressional committees to simplify oversight of the Department of Homeland Security.
We cannot wait for another attack to occur before we act to shore up our homeland security. Thank you again for contacting me. I will keep your concerns in mind.

So Much News, So Little Time

I got a reply from Senator Ken Salazar (D-CO) on an inquiry I made regarding Able Danger, the DoD task force that identified the 9-11 hijackers months before the attack. This post will have to wait till tomorrow however.

The post today concerns the vote in the House last night regarding the removal of troops from Iraq. It came on the heels of a demand by Democrat Rep. John Murtha for just such an action. The vote rejecting the demand, went down hard by a vote of 403-3. Even Murtha voted against it. I'll bet he didn't sleep well last night.

Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi called the proposal, which was introduced by Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-CA), "a disgrace", a "deception", that the "Republican majority has stooped to a new low", and that the proposal was "a political stunt and should it be rejected by this House". Ms. Pelosi then voted with the majority. I'm sure that her vote will enrage her constituents. I'll bet she didn't sleep well last night.

FYI, the only Representatives who vote for the measure (and probably the only Dems to sleep well last night) were Cynthia McKinney, Jose Serano and Robert Wexler.

I think it is hilarious. I want the GOP to pull more stunts like this on all government programs. For instance, how about a proposal to raise the minimum wage to $25 per hour?

It could work both ways too. The Dems could propose using the Commerce Clause to criminalize alcohol and tobacco, as is the case with marijuana. It could make politics even more fun.

Illegal Immigrant Kills Dallas Police Officer

From the AP we get this,

DALLAS - A Dallas police officer was shot and killed Sunday by a suspect he was chasing on foot, police Chief David Kunkle said.
Officer Brian Jackson, 28, was pronounced dead at Baylor University Medical Center at 3:52 a.m., Kunkle said.
Jackson and another officer were responding to a disturbance call in East Dallas early Sunday and chased a 28-year-old male suspect through alleys and between houses, police said. The suspect, identified by authorities as Juan Lizcano, fired at the officers and fatally shot Jackson under the arm, Kunkle said.
Lizcano was charged with one count of capital murder and remained in police custody. He was not injured in the shootout.

What the AP and the local Dallas press doesn't tell us is that Lizcano is an illegal Mexican immigrant who has been stopped by Texas law enforcement at least twice before. Unlike the case of Denver police officer Donnie Young, Texas cops got this piece of shit before he could escape back to Mexico.

In Hidalgo, chief Vernon Rosser believes everyone has their guard up.
"Along the Mexican border, I feel very comfortable that not only this agency but all the other agencies are paying attention to these bulletins," Rosser said. "We pay a lot of attention to the fact that we do have people that are in close proximity that are possible terrorists, or on death
wish missions."
Rosser says the threats on officers safety are common. He says the best way to be ready is to train officers that every day is "kill a cop" day... saying even a traffic stop warrants the highest level of caution."
And so people that are being involved in traffic stops, they should understand a lot of times they deem the officer of being aggressive but he's really being cautious because he has no idea who he's dealing with. It could be someone that's trying to fulfill October 30th, death day."
Rosser also believes that the date on the bulletin could be a deterrent. While his town could be a target he believes the Mara's will go elsewhere to carryout their threats. "I feel that if something like this
were to happen, it's probably gonna happen in a larger area where it's easier to do something like this and you can conceal yourself with a heavier population."
The bulletin originated with an agency called Federal Protective Services. They say the MS 13's want to kill officers because of the pressure they are under from U.S. Customs agents "Operation Community Shield" - a nationwide initiative targeting violent street gangs.

When Ideologies Conflict With Themselves

As most of you know, I'm a right-leaning libertarian. Libertarians, or classic liberals, believe in freedom from coercion, and individual responsibility.

Admittedly, freedom from coercion also includes the ability of individuals to move freely without interference from man or government. So, in order for me to be an ideological purist, I'd have to welcome, or at least ignore the immigration of peoples from one country to another. I'd also have to be willing to scoff at the "idea" of borders and nation-states. In the deep recesses of my brain, tucked between the folds of my grey matter, there is a utopic view that free individuals should be able to do what they want, including immigrate and emigrate, without coercion.

The man who introduced me to classic liberalism, some 25 years ago, is also one of my best friends and a frequent backpacking partner. Upon moving from Denver to Longmont several years ago, "Jeff" has become infected with a horrible disease...Boulderitis, aka radical liberalism. Needless to say, our conversations have become contentious.

The conversations inside the tent during our most recent backpack were no exception. When the topic of immigration came up, he was quick, and rightfully so, to point out that I am not a purist with regard to the issue, as I favor a moratorium on all immigration to the United States for at least five years, and strict limits thereafter.

Jeff is more classically liberal on this issue than I will ever be. In fact, it may be the only issue where this is the case. Jeff considers himself a "world citizen" and rejects the "concept" of borders. The movement of peoples is of no concern to him. The consequences of mass immigration are of no concern either. To give you an idea of his thought process, Jeff favors universal health care even though it inevitably means lesser quality and higher cost health care for everybody. He is willing to endure these negative costs if it means that everybody is covered in some way. I call this liberal equality: the equality of servitude, poverty, and misery. I won't go in to how anybody who needs health care already gets it, regardless of the ability to pay.

He is also an environmentalist who claims to believe in thinking globally and acting locally. Upon hearing this I was quick to point out, and rightfully so, the effects of mass immigration on our environment. I pointed out that he didn't really care about the environment of our state or our country because population growth directly affects the environment in which he lives. I also pointed out that his position is also the one favored by the multinational corporations and corporate elitists. This went over like a lead zepplin.

So there we have it. I oppose immigration, and thus the position of classic liberalism, because the costs are too high (mostly taxes, which is another form of coercion) . Jeff favors open borders (more correctly: lack thereof), despite the environment he claims to care about, and despite the fact that he plays right into the hands of the corporate elite.

Able Danger in the News Again

First we find out that the DoD intelligence unit, Able Danger, had discovered Mohammad Atta and his cell one year before the 9-11 attacks. Then we find out that Able Danger learned of a possible attack in Yemen two weeks and two days before the attack on the USS Cole. The Navy had been told about the activity and was warned not to enter the port. Here is an interview with Congressman Curt Weldon (Pa).

So, Lt Col Schaffer is being threatened by his employer's for whistle-blowing, Weldon is being threatened with the loss of military-pork money, and the msm ignores the story. The msm is being left out in the cold and they appear to be completely oblivious to the fact that too many people now know about it. Why isn't Barbara Walters doing an exclusive interview with the families of the servicemen who who died on the Cole? Why isn't Katie Couric dragging in survivor's of the 9-11 attacks and asking them how they feel about the knowledge that the DoD and the Clinton Administration knew who the hijackers were a year before the attack?

There is a scene in Monty Python's Meaning of Life where John Cleese carries on tirelessly over a list of trivial announcements to his students at a boarding school. Immediately after dismissing his students, he calls out to one boy and shouts, "Oh, and (Jeremy)? Apparently your mother died". He then closes his book and walks away, leaving the boy on the verge of tears. It was hilarious in the movie, but this is the kind of dismissal we are currently experiencing from the msm...and it ain't so funny.

The scandal which is brewing, and the potential scandal (were we manipulated into a War on Terrorism?) is considerably bigger that Iran-Contra, and it blows the water out of Watergate. Why haven't the networks pre-empted regular programming to televise Senate hearings? I, for one, wouldn't mind seeing Arlen "Single Bullet" Spector squirm in his seat for a couple of weeks.

I want to know who is being protected by the msm silence. Could they be so partisan that being silent on a story of this magnitude is the best way to protect the Clinton Administration? I really don't have any other explanation for it. We continue to get story after story about Tom Delay, and nothing about Congressman Weldon accusing DoD bureaucrats of punishing a whistle-blower. Let me repeat this again for impact: We knew who the hijackers were before the attacks.

Supporters of Bill Clinton think that if they just keep quiet long enough, that the story will just go away. Ironically, this appears to be exactly what the evil, military-industrial-complex wants to happen.

Today I spent the morning packing my backpack. I got it down to 43lbs-6ozs without the tent. The tent weighs about 9lbs-5ozs and I figure that I will carry about half of that weight...so, about 48lbs. I was shooting for 45lbs which is what I will probably be carrying on day three(maybe sooner if we polish off the Jameson's early).

Where am I going? Well that's a well guarded secret, but I will say that it is in the state of Colorado, on the West Slope, and the trail is about 25 miles long. I'll be leaving northern Colorado Friday about 2 am, pick up some friends in Longmont, and hopefully be at my trailhead by 7am. So there's some clues for you.

Now the prize. Whomever guesses where I went (or get closest), gets to buy me a beer. You may be saying to yourself...a beer!?...what kind of prize is that? Well, not just any beer, a Samuel Smith's Oatmeal Stout. You read right! Oh my God, I can just taste that sweet brew on my lips right now.

None Dare Say Racist

I was doing some research the other day and I came across something that shocked even me. I have been all over this country and to several foreign countries and I thought that I had seen everything but this is surprising considering how the MSM beats stories of racism into the ground.

This first story comes out of Arizona. It details the strife between Latino's and the new Latin American immigrants.

The second story may get the reward for Best Kept Secret. Apparently the mass influx of immigrants and their offspring into South-Central L.A. are causing significant problems with the long-time residents, black U.S citizens. It appears that blacks are getting shot at, without discrimination, by Latin Americans.

I wonder. How big would these stories be if it were white folks causing this violence? Hell, all the open-border activists have to do is say racist and they get ten inches in the Post and four minutes on the nightly news. Political correctness sucks.

Liberty in Our Lifetimes?

I must be living in Bizarro World. It seems that anything that I want to happen is exactly the opposite of what actually happens. Taxes are too high and they are getting higher. The schools are populated by teachers who indoctrinate our children with a leftist ideology, much to the chagrin of the spirit of the Constitution. The borders are wide open which has led to a situation of mass immigration. The vast majority of our legislation and taxation comes from a place over a thousand miles away and is left in the hands of a few, barely accountable politicians and several thousand unaccountable bureaucrats. We are taxed, at the federal level, by a direct tax on income; and that tax is based on a 16,000 page tax code. K Street lobbiests have greater access to legislators than 99.9 percent of the populace whom they are supposed to represent. Hell, foreign governments have more influence over our federal government than I do.

I am opposed to all of these things and yet the country is embracing them at an increasing rate. Where can a person go who only wants to be left alone? I can't afford to buy an island. Most other countries are worse than we are. I guess I'm stuck. I guess I have to suck it up and live out the rest of my days in a state of being constantly pissed off.

About ten years ago, I came across an organization that has a unique idea for achieving liberty for those who wish it. Back then, they were asking for a commitment from several thousand freedom-loving to move to a particular state which met certain criteria. The criteria that are taken into account are population size, economic viability, low taxes, a history of classic liberalism, etc.. They had a list of states to choose from, and they listed the advantages and disadvantages of each state on the list. Participants were to choose their top five.

If a state has less than 1.5 million people and meets the criteria, 20,000 freedom-loving people are to move to that state and be a force to influence that states' legislature. Ultimately, that states' legislature would negotiate separately with the federal government, with the goal of reducing the federal influence on that states' inhabitants.

The organization was going to make their decision after they had a firm commitment from 5,000 people to move, and a loose commitment from another 15,000 people to move. Well they met their goals and made their decision. Right now, freedom-loving people are emigrating to the "Live free or die" state, New Hampshire. I am holding my breath.

Ten years ago when I came across their website I was intrigued but entirely unwilling to leave the Rocky Mountains (the only RM state on the list was Wyoming, but the Feds own 70 percent of that state). A lot has changed in the last decade. I have come to realize that the GOP is at least as evil as the Democrats. I had hope for a change when Gingrich and Co. took over the House. Those hopes were dashed after he and other small-government Republicans volunteered to leave Congress. We now have a bigger, more intrusive government than we ever had and the GOP brags about how great it is.

I am thinking more and more about leaving my home. After all, what is the point of life, without the liberty to live it the way I want? I will be going to NH next September to check out the housing, job, and recreation (esp. ski slopes) situation of that state. Who knows? I may have liberty in my lifetime.

Conservatives Wrongly Assail Jackson, "Black Leaders"

I've been buzzin' around the sphere to see what folks are thinking; and it seems that many of you all are rather critical of the self-appointed black leadership in this country. Especially criticized are Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, and New Orleans Mayor, Ray Nagin.

This must stop! All of you racist jerks need to realize that without these great men, and the victims...I mean...constituents who keep their (the great men) limo's full of gasoline, the black community, who are entirely separate (by white racists, like you) from the whole of society, would be living in poverty.

Thanks to these poverty pimps...gosh darn it!...thanks to these great men, blacks no longer live in poverty, they have eschewed the victim mentality, and they no longer need to commit more crime disproportionate to their population. Black citizens today enjoy a higher quality of life than they ever have as they can now stroll safely down any street without being the victim of crime at the hands of another black citizen. White, yellow, and brown citizens (all the colors of the rainbow) can all stroll safely into any black-segregated (thanks to white racists) community with the confidence that they will be welcomed by said community.

Yep, these great leaders shouldn't be criticized, they should have great monuments built for the hope and promise they have provided their "constituents". Maybe a statue, a la Iwo Jima, of brave black citizens lying down so that Jackson can plant a Rainbow Push flag in one of their backs, would be most appropriate.

The Plumber Gets an Exclusive Interview With President Bush

Last night I got one of the most shocking phone calls of my life. President Bush called up The Plumber to do an exclusive interview for the Mental Masturbator. Here is a transcript of the interview,

plumber: Who are you and what do you want?!

Prez: I heard that you received a couple of letters from the DNC and Moveon.org and I wanted to respond.

plumber: All right. Yeah, I got the donation pleas, I have them right here. It says here in the Moveon letter that they are "readying plans to hold the Bush Administration to account for its failures in preventing and then responding to this disaster..." and Dean's DNC letter sure doesn't waste any time kicking you in the cajones...hoo, hoo. The Moveon folks are actually more lenient on you than the DNC.

Prez: Don't believe it. I just saw satellite photos of a couple of hippies helping George Soros into a lycra suit. Our inside guy says that Soros fancies himself a super-hero. He calls himself "The Hungry Hungarian". Scott called him...heh, heh..."The Harebrained Hungarian". I almost blew a gasket laughing so hard. When our man described them hippies draggin' his fat ass all over his compound, well...heh, heh...that did it, I barely made it to the bathroom...heh, heh, heh.

Prez: Listen bud, I just want to let you know that we did everything we could to stop that hurricane. We grabbed up everybody we could, we even got Dean and Byrd to come down before that hurricane hit.

Prez: Yeah, we thought that if we had enough folks on the coast, we could blow that hurricane back out t'sea. But we had some troubles 'long the way. We was headed down the levee to the coast and the driver noticed that the levee was gonna collapse. We thought we were done for until Dick came up with great idea. Well the Dems didn't like it and they put up quite a fight, but when the Secret Service pulled out the heat, that sure shut their yaps...heh,heh. Well, we threw ol' Clinton and Byrd... boy, that old dude sure put up a fight... we threw them over the side...you know... to shore up the levee. I had my doubts, but goddamned if it didn't work! I owe Dick a steak.

plumber: So you were able to make it to the coast?

Prez: Oh yeah. And we got lined up, Dems on one side and us on the other. Well we blew and blew and blew. Ol' Dick was trying so hard we almost lost him. He had to drop out after about 15 minutes. Well, now we're down three guys so the rest of us had to pick it up. Dick had another idea...that guy's a brain I'll tell you what. Lynn wheeled him down to Dean. The next thing I know, Howard's a screamin' and cussin' like I never heard. I had to cover up mamma's ears. Anyway, all that hot air seems to have intensified the hurricane; but the wind coming from Howard was enough to avoid a direct hit. We sure lucked out.

plumber: What the hell did Cheney say?

Prez: Heh, heh...He told him that his mamma was a Libertarian...heh,heh.

plumber: Hoo, hoo...that's good! Is that why he goes after you in the letter?

Prez: Yeah. That and we put him in one of those two-wheel dolly's. You know, with the cage, like in that Hopkins movie.

plumber: What happened to Byrd and Clinton?

Prez: Well that's an amazing story. Apparently they had enough air to hold their breath till we were able to git back 'cross the levee safely. Some of the fella's hooked a rope around 'em and we yanked 'em out with the SUV. Shortly after that the levee collapsed.

plumber: Do you feel any responsibility for allowing the levee to collapse?

Prez: Hell no. That section of levee was build during the Clinton Administration. 'Sides, we didn't force Bill and Bob to come out. Listen, I just wanted to make it clear that we did everything we could to stop that hurricane. Don't believe Dean.

I think you have anarchy and classic liberalism confused. I am a classic liberal. The main function of a government is to prevent violations of the private property of its citizens. If I am assaulted, that is a violation of my private property. If the foundry down the street pollutes the air or water and it is injurious to me or my land, I should have recourse in the courts and law enforcement to hold that foundry responsible. When I say that the cost of liberty is personal responsibility, that means (in this instance) that it is my responsibility to test the water and air and if it is bad, I report it to the authorities. We don't need a bureaucracy, the EPA in this case, to remove that responsibility from the individual. What we need is effective courts and law enforcement. What we have now is complacency and laziness.

Does this refrain sound familiar?

"Where was the EPA when this disaster happened?" "Why wasn't the government keeping an eye on this foundry?" "The dirty water coming out of my tap represents a failure of government!" "If the EPA had held them accountable, this would have never happened!" "We need to strengthen the EPA so that this never happens again!" "There ought to be a law against it!" I could go on ad infinitum.

You can pick any govt. agency to substitute for the EPA, but for the purposes of example I will use them. We see this exact kind of mentality occurring with the disaster in N.O.. Everybody is passing the buck because nobody wants to be accountable. One only needs to look in the mirror to see who should be held accountable.

Heck, I'm even willing to meet you half-way on this. Let's use N.O. for example. If the inhabitants of a city decide that it is good to build and live in a swamp that is prone the potential of being wiped out by hurricanes; and these inhabitants elect to have their government build levees and dams to prepare for such an event, that's fine with me. I'd never do it; and since it is a state/local decision, their decision doesn't directly affect me (either personally or monetarily). When those inhabitants go the Federal government for assistance (Army Corp of Engineers, FEMA), then I am directly affected by their poor (IMO) choices. The simple application of the Tenth Amendment minimizes the affect of their poor choices on me. If only this were the case.

Re: Income tax. I don't care if the tax on income is only one cent. A direct tax on income is state-sponsored slavery. How did the government get away with it? By relying on voluntary compliance. If the Feds determined your worth to them by determining that "this" amount of your time will devoted to funding the government, then it is blatant slavery. If you do it, then it is your choice.

Re: The Jungle. It is one of the most horrifying books I have ever read. How about a less coercive method (assuming we have no recourse in the courts like in the above example)? Give food producers the option of opting out of FDA compliance. Allow producers to start and enforce their own standards. Let's call it the "Food Producers of America". Labeling on the packaging would say "Inspected by the FPA". Or we could have state standards as with organic produce. This gives business owners more liberty and consumers more options (I could pay 50 cents more for the FDA inspected head of lettuce, I could pay this price for the FPA inspected lettuce, or I could pay 50 cents less for the lettuce with no inspection at all). Again, the cost of liberty is personal responsibility. I want food that I am reasonably sure won't make me sick, so I will buy one of the "inspected" choices.

Right now, those choices have been removed. I could easily apply this reasoning from education to healthcare, roads to building standards. I am out of time right now, but I look forward to continuing the debate.

The Plumber Has Had It!

Today was going to be a short day. All I had to do was install a kitchen sink and a bathroom sink. I decided not to go to the jobsite until after lunch and work till 4:30 or so.

So I show up to my jobsite, tools in hand, and lo and behold! My fixtures were stolen over Labor Day weekend. This one will cost me about $500. I can't afford $500 and it's too little for an insurance claim.

I called the cops and filed a report. The officer in charge shrugged her shoulders and offered nothing. No investigation will be done. Her words of comfort? "You are lucky that it hasn't happened to you earlier." My insurance guy, who could do absolutely nothing for me, was considerably more sympathetic.

I called other plumbers in the area and they have all had supplies and fixtures stolen from jobsites. Their words of comfort? "You're lucky it has only happened to you once." and "You're lucky it was only $500". Thanks a lot guys. I am used to having to pack up my tools because of theft, but not my supplies. This shit is getting ridiculous. And I'm tired of it!

I have decide to divest myself of the plumbing trade. I'm done. So here is my resume:

I get so pissed about how people can be so casual about something I am forced to do in order to survive...work. The money I earn is with my back, my hands, my time. Do I own these things or do I not? If the money is taken directly out of my paycheck, do I quit owning a portion of these things?

If one thinks like I do (and I've heard some do) how can I not feel like a slave?

When you factor in the new wave of immigrants, is there any doubt that the demands on me, and those who think like me, will be even greater in the future? It wouldn't surprise me if the demands on my life for the greater good increases at an increasing rate. Does anybody on this site have any reason for me to believe this not the case?

When is it ok for me to feel like chattel? If we could put a date on it, what would it be? If we made "freedom from tax" day on Labor Day, could I feel like chattel then? Maybe I shouldn't even be thinking like this. Maybe I should be thinking not as an individual, but as a member of a collective. Maybe I should stop thinking altogether and lose myself in the collective. OMG! I'M A COMMUNIST!!! :-)

Hell, I've just started on taxes. I haven't even gotten to the loss of personal liberty, or how government dependency leads to personal irresponsibility.

People who want to grow something that can only do one thing effectively, coerce compliance, in light of everything wrong with it, is either a loonie or an elitist.

There’s An Elephant In The Room

Saturday started the way I like to start my day: with a cup of coffee and a copy of the Rocky Mountain News. It took about 30 seconds for my mood to be soured. The first story in the Lineup is “Parched Future for S. Platte Farmland”. I know this; we all know this. Every one of us knows that farmland is being eaten up by development and water is being eaten (drunk) up by the cities. What’s the new news? I continue reading, looking desperately for the elephant. I FOUND IT! There it was*; one sentence in the middle of a paragraph, in the middle of the story.

Sunday started the way I like to start my day: with a cup of coffee and a copy of the Rocky Mountain News. It took about 30 seconds for my mood to be soured. The first story is another one about failing public schools. This time the developers want to do something about the poor state of public education by building their own schools (we will ignore the fact that they are gobbling up farm land and open space, for now). I scan the article to see if anybody noticed the elephant. Nope. The News noticed the tracks, the developers are trying to fill them; but it appears that nobody noticed the beast responsible. I just shake my head and read on.

I finally make my way to my favorite section of the newspaper, the Op-Ed section. The first story is troubling, but typical. It is one I am all too familiar with. We are loving our national parks to death. I honestly don’t know why I would want to depress myself on such a nice day but I read the story anyway. I must know if the writers of the article noticed the elephant. They didn’t. Ditto the story below it regarding the energy needs of the future.

The tracks of the enormous beast are all over this state. The tracks are all over most states in this country. Government, at every level, race to fill in the tracks as the animal runs roughshod over the country. Filling in these tracks is preferred to harnessing the animal so that it cannot do any more damage. It is a losing battle. The beast moves much quicker than government (but then, what doesn’t?). While it is destroying schools, roads, hospitals, national parks, farmland and open space, and sucking up the last bit of water and energy, the media, the government, and the environmentalists close their eyes, put their hands over their ears and sing “la la la”.

Oh yes, the poor creature does have a name. Its name is mass immigration. The 1990’s saw the largest population boom in our country’s history. In the last decade, the United States added an additional 32.7 million people to our country. This is despite the fact that native U.S. citizens have a negative fertility rate. The replacement rate of citizens leaving the country permanently is 225,000 per year. Simple math dictates then that we should have allowed less than three million immigrants into the country during this decade. The situation as it currently exists is clearly not sustainable. If the U.S. Congress acted on limiting immigration right now (225,000 replacement-level), it is still not sustainable. This is because the fertility rate of immigrant women is 40 percent higher in this country than the one they came from. By 2050, there would be 315 million people in the U.S.. Just over 240 million of the 315 million in 2050 would be descendants of people here in 1970. If Congress does nothing, we will approach 400 million people in 2050. By the end of the century, we will double our current population. ALL of this growth will be the result of mass immigration.

In 1969, President Nixon addressed the problem. He told the nation, "One of the most serious challenges to human destiny in the last third of this century will be the growth of the population. Whether man's response to that challenge will be a cause for pride or for despair in the year 2000 will depend very much on what we do today.” This led to his signing of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). Title I of the act begins, “The Congress, recognizing the profound impact of man's activity on the interrelations of all components of the environment, particularly the profound influences of population growth...". Why were Congress, the President, and the public more concerned about sustainable population growth in 1970? Why is it not even discussed in the media now?

Well the answer to the first question is simple. Environmentalists knew that one couldn’t divorce population growth with environmental protection, and they were vocal about these concerns. They also had the backing of the federal government (Republicans and Democrats alike). The answers to the second question are numerous and complicated, but one stands out more than most. U.S. citizens do not want to appear hostile to immigrants. We are a very compassionate country; no nation has helped more people in human history than the United States. However, political correctness has trumped a rational discourse on what to do about mass immigration. Political correctness trumps the environment, public education, healthcare services, land use, water and energy depletion, pollution control, taxes , urban sprawl, crime… the list goes on ad infinitum. Political correctness stifles all debate with one word: racist.

There are only three things that can be done to protect our social and environmental resources: 1) Put a moratorium on all immigration, both legal and illegal, now. 2) Arrest employer’s who higher illegal immigrants. If there is no work, many immigrants will leave of their own accord. 3)Put massive numbers of people on the borders to prevent immigration. This is where political correctness makes the problem of mass immigration more difficult. There is no way any of these three points will happen unless the Left recognizes that mass immigration is a problem. I mention the Left because they are the ones who are shockingly silent on this issue. They are the ones who despair over the environment, the schools, energy policy, and healthcare. They are also those who will to stifle dialog by shouting one word: RACIST. Honest liberals must disassociate themselves with people who would use such and inflammatory word.

If the Left doesn’t wake up, there will be no environment to save, public schools will be dilapidated, open space will be paved over, water and energy resources will disappear along with overburdened hospitals. If the Right doesn’t wake up, taxes, bureaucracy, and crime will all increase as government tries to fill in the footprint of mass immigration. I urge all environmentalists, parents, city planners, law enforcement, politicians, farmers, ranchers, and the media to study the website, numbersusa.com, carefully and thoroughly. While listening to the news or reading the newspaper, do so critically. And don’t forget about the elephant.

As a very red-state midwesterner, my university was not overrun by leftists (except the liberal arts). I can just imagine that the percentage would be higher at a place like Columbia (who, no doubt have a leg-up on the best MSM jobs). A moron with half a brain can assert (correctly) that the MSM has a leftist bias. This moron can then assume that they don't like conservatives (Bush).

The leftists like Sheehan assert the the MSM is owned by evil corporations which are run by evil Republicans. They are ignorant or ignore that most of the coverage of a story is made by leftists who were sent to cover the story by another leftist (editor-a reporter who rose thru the ranks). They have only one obligation: to get their way.

To this end, they have the dual task of limiting (or completely ignoring) coverage of competing ideas as well as protecting their own (message and messenger). In this case, the MSM is not only serving a dual purpose (make Bush look bad, while protecting Sheehan), they are also protecting the Clinton Administration.

Is there any doubt that "Able Danger"* is a much bigger story? Bigger than Iran-Contra, bigger than Watergate (Remember the media coverage of those events? Remember the posturing politicians? Remember which party was in the WH?). If you don't know what "Able Danger" is, then my point is proven and the media has gotten its way.

After schmoozing with the protesters and members of the "small media", Bergler, Cindy MeMeMehan, and a reporter representing the country's most influential newspaper, the New Bork Times, ducked into a Suburban parked at the side of the road. Thanks to a parabolic listening device, a rancher (thinking that if he could hear oil under his property, he could afford a fence to keep illegals off his property) overheard the conversation:

As most of you know, I am a libertarian. It is easy to infer that I believe that a person deserves privacy if they want. I want.

Now as a result of the following post, my gentle readers will know that I am located in northern Colorado. Damn.

Last night I went to the meeting of the Colorado Alliance for Immigration Reform (CAIR). This is NOT to be confused with the terrorist organization, The Council on American-Islamic Relations, which also goes by the acronym "CAIR".

The meeting had 30-40 people show up who were supportive of the goal of CAIR, which is to stop illegal immigration. There were also about ten protesters who considered us racists. This is interesting considering the organizers of CAIR are former Sierra Club members and are concerned about the impact on the environment with regard to uncontrolled population growth. These people are not tobacco-chewing rednecks.

Unfortunately little was accomplished as a result of time constraints, unless education and networking was the goal. The Plumber already knows what the problems are and what the implications are. I know what needs to be done as well.

Pro-immigration advocates are quick to point out that we can't "round up" 20 million illegal immigrants. True enough. It is also a perfect example of sophistry. We don't need to "round up" illegals, or as I prefer to call them, foreign trespassers. There are only two things that need to (or can) be done:

1) Arrest employer's. I think that this need not be a massive crack-down. In fact, the feds probably need only to arrest a few employers per state, per month. One of the protesters blamed the foreign trespasser issue on "unbridled capitalism". On this point, I agree. I doubt that he realized (or intended) that his criticism is part of the solution. We also need to allow local cops to arrest foreign trespassers for violating federal law. It is a common excuse by state and local bureaucrats that enforcement of immigration law is a federal responsibility. I wonder how many law enforcement personnel took an oath to "protect and defend the Constitution of the U.S.". Even this is in jeopardy.

2) Put bodies on the border. Thanks to the Minutemen, this is going to happen again in October. We need a year-round presence however and since the feds refuse to do their job, the Minutemen will need thousands of volunteers who are willing to give up a week or more of their vacation time to protect our borders. I will be going down in October. We need more, especially you folks who live in border states.

Our environment, culture, and economy are at risk RIGHT NOW as a result of mass immigration. We must stop it RIGHT NOW!

Fort Collins: A Sanctuary City?

A fellow blogger at the Fort Collins Insider confirmed the rumor that Ft. Collins will debate on whether or not city officials will be allowed to ask people about their immigration status. The comment reads as follows:

The Fort Collins City Council will discuss a Human Rights Protection Ordinance on September 6. The Ordinance prevents city employees from asking questions about the immigration status of people seeking services. The Human Relations Commission of the City contends that currently many victims and witnesses of crimes do not report crimes to the police because they are fearful that questions will be asked about their immigration status of the status of someone in their family. As well, some members of this community have reported receiving dissimilar treatment from city employees based on their immigration status or perceived status. Should be a very interesting discussion - it has been a topic simmering away for about 2 years - now it is going directly to Council in a regular session.

There will be a Minuteman presence at the meeting. Will the city council make it easier for criminals to report criminal behavior? How much of this criminal behavior that they hope to have reported by criminals is committed by illegals? Will the city allow cops to ask these criminals about their status? What will happen to them then?

God I Hate Bureaucrats

This was in yesterdays' newspaper. For any who wish to avoid the article, I'll give you the gist of the article.

The Colorado's Public Employees' Retirement Association (PERA) has paid out more than $2 million to former employees since 2000 in "banked" personal-leave time. Until this year, these employees could bank up to 52 weeks and then cash out at retirement or resignation.

But wait! That's not all. PERA has also spent nearly half a million dollars on new cars and car allowances in the past ten years.

But wait! That's not all. PERA has also promised some execs "longevity bonuses" that added up to 20 percent of their annual pay to their paychecks every three years.

But wait! That's not all. PERA also allows execs up to 12 weeks of sick days in addition to personal leave time.

These money-grubbing, piece-of-shit parasites work for the state. That's right, a gun is jammed in the face of every real taxpayer to pay for these leaches to fill up their taxpayer-purchased SUV's.

In Colorado there is an amendment to their constitution which states that all tax increases must be voted on. It is known as the Taxpayer Bill of Rights, or TABOR. Conversely, the voters approved an amendment (Amendment 23) which guarantees school funding of inflation plus one percent. Due to the last recession and falling tax revenues, Colorado finds itself with a massive debt. In response to this debt, two referendums (C and D) will be voted on for the government to keep excess revenues to fund schools and other "essential" services.

I wonder if PERA is an "essential" service. I wonder how many other "essential" government agencies and programs have perks like PERA. These "essential" agencies, which includes the public schools, are screaming that the sky will fall if these referendums fail in November. Will the sky fall? The media and the "Republican" governor think so. Especially if one believes that decreasing expenditures when one has less money catastrophic. I wish I could just extort money when my cash reserves get low.

Sometimes Promises Aren't Worth a Damn

The last several posts have been rather serious. I thought that maybe I could lighten things up a little.

Air America seems to be in quite a bind. It is interesting that the NY Times has just now picked up on the story today and then buried it in a section (below the fold) that few read, and gave it a headline that even dedicated readers would pass over. It also rehashes the exact information that has embroiled the blogosphere for the last two weeks. We should all give thanks to Michelle Malkin and the New York Sun for turning over the rocks to see what crawled from underneath (it was Al Franken).

I certainly hope that this isn't the end of Air America. My parents, who are lifelong Democrats came out to visit last year. I turned them on to the new voices of the Democrat Party. How is this for a quote?, "I don't know what I am, but I sure as hell ain't that". Air America may be the best tool in the Republican arsenal.

Hizb ut Tahrir, War, and the First Amendment

Upon hearing that British PM Tony Blair wants to ban the Hizb ut Tahrir (HT) over the objections of the Home Office (who doesn't consider them dangerous), I had to check them out.

There isn't any doubt in my mind that this is a dangerous group. Arresting and deporting members and supporters of HT should be the first order of business of law enforcement. Their website should have been removed years ago, Indeed, it should have never been allowed to exist.

Tancredo Nonexistent on Al Jazeera But This Will Do

I wanted to find out what Al Jazeera thought about Rep. Tom Tancredo so I jumped on their website (English version). Not one word. Tancredo was admonished by the Left and the Right. The fear was that an outfit like Al Jazeera would use his comments to inflame hatred against our efforts in this "War on Terrorism". I guess that the critics were wrong. Al Jazeera only cares about the antics of jackasses (Kennedy, Durbin, Pelosi, etc.).

I did however find this. I had to comment. My message read as follows:

George Bush is not a "right-wing extremist". In fact, his actions may be the only things keeping Muslims in this country safe from attacks from real right-wing extremists.

Maybe you should have spent time in a small-town cafe in Middle America after the towers came down. It was not uncommon for common folks to say things like, "kill 'em all and let Allah sort the SOB's out" or "We ought to turn that whole part of the world into a skating rink" (meaning: nuke it).

Don't confuse the REAL right-wing with the Bush Administration or the right-wing in Europe. The Bush Administration is composed of internationalists; the right-wing in the U.S. is composed of nationalists. The right-wing in Europe is unarmed, the right-wing in the States is heavily armed and one terrorist attack away from being too pissed off to care what Bush says, or does.

I have mentioned in previous posts that the ICC is not about making buildings safer, it is about transparency of rules and laws between countries in the same vein as NAFTA, GATT, and now CAFTA. James Lee Witt, former head of FEMA under Clinton, brags openly about destroying the building standards we have in the U.S. in an attempt to help the third world have standards.

On page three of the July issue is a story that reads as thus:

As part of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed May 9 between ICC and Mexico's National Commission of Housing Development, ICC will provide technical assistance to the Mexican government in developing a residential building code.

"The Mexican government has a long-term plan to update its construction standards to include the safest techniques, materials and technologies," says ICC CEO James Lee Witt. "The I-Codes, already enforced in thousands of U.S. jurisdictions, will be the basis for housing construction in Mexico. The codes will provide Mexico's residents with safe, affordable housing."

This got me to thinking, why doesn't someone make one of those with the United States instead of just Colorado? So I did it and today, Independence Day, I have my bumper sticker for sale. Wow! So much has happened. Several days after my last post, the leftists on the SCOTUS decided we couldn't have a right to property. I sure am tired of these people. I pointed out on the moveon.org forum that it is the leftists that represent a danger to freedom and private property, not the rightists. The administrators at the moveon forum have denied me the opportunity to post on their forum and removed all of my comments. So much for freedom of speech. Have no fear! I will create another email address and a pseudonym and be back to rake the muck.

Maybe they kicked me off for my "loonie" comment. Darn! I should have called the President a Nazi. THAT would have kept me in the good graces of those loonies.

Now O'Connor is leaving and those nuts have their panties in a bunch over abortion. They think that if Roe is overturned, then abortion will be illegal. This is wrong. If Roe is overturned, the issue becomes a states rights issue. This is exactly where the issue belongs.

Monday's SCOTUS decision regarding marijuana that was grown and used entirely by the grower was declared to be under the authority of the federal government's Commerce Clause. The rational, according to the Majority, is that it COULD have been sold in an interstate market and that by growing their own, they were not purchasing their marijuana from other states, which also affects interstate commerce.
In her dissent, Justice O'Connor said that the decision can be read to affect ANY industrious activity. This could be anything from sewing your own clothes and growing your own veggi's, to holding a bake sale for your kid's music program. All can be regulated now by the federal government under the Interstate Commerce Clause.
Agreeing with O'Connor is Justice Thomas. He even went further than O'Connor by claiming that the Controlled Substances Act (CSA) is un-Constitutional. GO CLARENCE!
This issue divides conservatives. Limbaugh, for instance, supports states rights, while Hannity argues in favor of the Commerce Clause (so much for Hannity's promotion of freedom).
The two most liberal judges, Kennedy and Ginsburg, supported the feds. Interesting, they would rather see sick people suffer, erode the Tenth Amendment, and increase the law-enforcement authority of the federal government, while a judge like Clarence Thomas supports the rights of a state to allow people to self-treat themselves.

Are the Highways Worth It?

I picked up a variety-style newsletter today. It has a lengthy article about Highway 66, more famously known as Route 66. The article is mostly about what still exists along this dilapidated stretch of blacktop. I can tell you, not very much.

In a heated discussion with somebody brave enough to take me on, it was suggested that without taxes, there would be no roads to drive on. This of course is complete sophistry. That said, I wondered if we are better off having an interstate highway system or not.

Route 66 opened up the U.S. to large numbers of people; would the country be better off if it hadn't? This might be an interesting subject for you environmentalists. There is little doubt that the environment would be much better off if the internal combustion engine had not been invented. What about the spreading of this technological marvel to all four corners of the country? Suppose the West were still wild country where only the hardest humans dared to tread?

I think it would be great. Hey! I have an idea! Instead of spending billions of dollars on road projects every year, let's just spend a few hundred million. Some of the money would be on an ad campaign telling people west of the Continental Divide that if they want to stay, it is up to them. The rest of the money would be spend destroying all of the roads.

Then came the Interstates and Route 66 died.

Anyway, the only pair of shoes that I had were a pair of hiking boots. They are Vasque Newbriars and about ten years old so they are very comfortable. That said, after about two hours on the pavement, my knees and legs were starting to get sore. Vasques are great on the trail but not so much on concrete. So I decided to break down and get myself a pair of tennis shoes.

When shopping, which I rarely do, I follow the ABC Principle. This means "Anywhere But China". I was starting to get frantic as I flipped shoe tongue after shoe tongue over in what appeared to be a futile search. Finally I found a pair made in Indonesia but I didn't like them. Then I found a pair made in Viet-Nam, imagine that! Sixty bucks was too much to spend on tennis shoes, so I kept looking.

I was about to give up my search and get the Indonesian pair when I saw a pair of New Balance tennis shoes with a U.S. flag on the box. I almost cried. I looked around some more and found another pair Made in the U.S.A.. I tried them on and they fit. They cost $44 plus tax. I wore them out of the store.

What is the point of the story? In a shoe store full of tennis shoes, I found four, FOUR styles not made in China. What the F*** is wrong with you people! PLEASE!! For God's sake. Quit buying products made in China. Good Lord! We have become a dumping ground for all of their crap and most of you are lapping it up like pigs in a slop bucket. Waddaya...got crap for your brains?!?

On another note, I have been having a very good time over at the DNC blog (see post below). I've got some of them so pissed off that if they could, they would spit through the screen. The names they call me and the places they tell me I should go are just hilarious.

I started boycotting newspapers and television news in 2000 (except for an occasional WSJ). After going to school with journalism majors, I realized that I could probably figure out what is going on with more insight from a tea cup. I held off for the better part of five years. This was an important change for me because at the time I was receiving the WSJ, the NYT, and the Washington Post Weekly. I saw bias on nearly every page in nearly every story. I was unwilling to support newspapers and decided to boycott them just like I have boycotted Hollywood (I have not been to a theatre in over ten years).

About two months ago a couple of kids came by the house selling subscriptions to the local newspaper. It is a small-town rag so I bought three months. Well, it is just as stupid as I thought it would be. Besides, I really only like the editorial section and the comics.

From the editorial standpoint, they seem to have a good mix of leftists and rightists (I have given up expecting the libertarian POV in newspapers or on TV) so it is OK. What I am really disappointed in is the comics page.

It is getting to the point where the funny pages may as well merge with the op-eds. It is easy to poke fun at politics and politicians and if that is the intent, fine. What I have noticed however, is that many strips have turned into dramas. They lead you through the social problems of the characters and then a couple of days later they give you a punchline. I think that in the last month of daily reading, I chuckled twice: once at Dilbert and once at Peanuts. That's right, Peanuts. Neither strip was about the war in Iraq, or smoking, or single mothers, or childcare. There was no deeper meaning or message. They were simply funny.

Bloom County was able to be political and funny. Doonsbury was funny until Bill Clinton got elected, then it got boring. I don't even bother reading it. I think that the funny pages ceased being funny after Larson (The Far Side), Breathed (Bloom County), and Watterson (Calvin and Hobbes) retired. If you don't have to read the comics, don't. I will continue to endure them and keep you informed if they eventually entertain.

Can Science Save Us?

Malthus claims, and I concur, that the only ways to limit the growth of the human population is through famine, disease, and war. Well thanks to science and charity, deaths from famine and disease have been declining (as a percentage of the total population) for decades. A new story, The End of War, from The National Review Online http://tnr.com indicates that humans have less of a chance of dying in a war than at any time in human history. This leads the question, how do we limit the growth of the human population?

As mentioned in previous posts, establishment of a middle class limits growth because people realize that kids cost money. Natives in Europe and North America (excluding Mexico) have already made the transition. They are having fewer children than ever. The change in these demographics are alarmingly noticeable in some parts of Europe where whole towns may have less than 15 percent of the population under the age of 30.

Unfortunately, trying to build a middle class in the rest of the world is a more daunting task. Many of these countries have no experience with capitalism or democracy, two critical ingredients in the recipe, and women (the ones who actually give birth) are often relegated to second-class "citizenship". If these peoples cannot control their growth, normally they would starve to death, disease would run rampant, and war would ensue as people fight for scarce resources. Situation solved. Could you watch on TV as this happens and not do anything about it? Could you tell yourself, "This is the way it is, and the way it has to be"? I know that I could, but then I am opposed to altruism (except for animals and veterans). Plus I am also a rude jerk. I don't think that most people could. The world is getting more and more full of people who cannot develop scar tissue on their hearts. They just bleed and bleed and bleed.

So what do we do about population growth? The only thing that I can think of is getting a significant number of people off this planet. The sooner the better. Any ideas?

The Joy of Cooking

The previous posts have been rather serious. To show that I am a multifaceted man, I am going to write something that will shock, and maybe enrage you. Here it goes: The Joy of Cooking is the best cookbook ever written. Gosh it's good to get that off my back.

I have a bookshelf full of cookbooks and I use all of them on a regular basis. Joy is the the most dog-eared however. Mine is covered and stained with gravy, marinade, bread and cookie dough, and of course, wine (I love to imbibe while cooking. I prefer Amaretto.).

Joy has everything. It teaches you about ingredients, utensils, techniques, history, and much more. With the book, I can prepare a Thanksgiving dinner to a full-fledged vegetarian meal. Their recipe for pie crust cannot be improved on.

Since I prefer vegetarian meals, my other favorite cookbooks are: French Vegetarian Cooking (Paola Gavin), Vegetarian Planet (Didi Emmons), and Bernard Clayton's New Complete Book of Breads. These four books should be in every kitchen in America. There would be no reason to have a bad meal. Unless you use bad ingredients, which can sometimes happen (proof your yeast!!!).

If you only own one, make it Joy. It really does make you a real chef, even if you are just a plain ol' plumber. Bon Appetit!

On the Economy

Manufacturing is the way to grow the economy. For instance, when a business takes fifty dollars worth of raw materials and makes a five hundred dollar radio.

A service economy, like what the U.S. has been moving toward for the last twenty years, cannot grow the economy. The service sector shifts already existing wealth. That is all.

Major political parties are destroying the ability of entrepreneurs to manufacture goods in the United States and other First-World countries. High taxes, regulations, and so-called "free trade" are destroying our economy.

What can you do about it? Well, what do you think? Buy goods made in the U.S. or whatever country you are from and support politicians who will support small business.

This means that you cannot vote for nearly any Democrat and only about thirty percent of the Republicans. Why? you ask. First of all, when is the last time you heard a Democrat call for lower taxes and less regulation of business? Never in my lifetime. Secondly, very few Republicans will demand that we reduce our levels of taxation and regulation so that we can compete with the Third-World. The GOP seem all too willing the throw the U.S. into direct competition with a country like China. How can we possibly compete with a country that encourages economic growth while we here in the land of the free have to try to work with a 16,000 page tax code and an alphabet soup of government agencies shoved up our ass?

Jobs American's Won't Do

On January 1st, 2005, the city I work in changed plumbing codes. Prior to this date plumbers in the city plumbed under the Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC). Now we plumb under the International Plumbing Code (IPC).

My prediction is that within the next fifteen years, most houses will be plumbed by Mexicans. If I am to stay in business, I will have to hire Mexicans. Native plumbers who do not own their own business will never see an increase in wages. They will slowly be pushed out of the market just like framers are now, and just like roofers, concrete worker's, sider's, and drywaller's already have been.

Establishment politicians think that this is a good thing. Mexico's President Fox and U.S. President Bush claim that Mexicans are only "doing work that American's won't do". What a bunch of bullshit. These dickheads either don't have a clue that their policies are taking jobs that U.S. citizens are all too willing to do or they know and choose to lie about it. I suspect the latter.

Is the establishment of a middle-class in Mexico so important that the middle-class in the U.S. must be sacrificed? To the Establishment politicians, the answer is yes. The reasons are many but the main reason has to do with limiting the growth of the population. People who attain at least a middle-class lifestyle are more likely to get married later and have fewer children. U.S. citizens have already achieved this, Mexico and the rest of the third-world have not. Although the standard of living (in real monetary terms) in the U.S. is going down, it is not likely that we will have more children per family no matter how close we come to third-world status. While this policy does have the desired effect, it isn't fast enough and the effect on the U.S. is going to be disastrous. The Establishment, not just here but globally, are destroying the First-World. Hence the term "post-industrial" is now used to describe the U.S. and Western Europe.

Another Reason to Fear Public School

An ten-year-old boy and a twelve-year-old girl take a baseball bat to a half dozen homes and walk out with everything they can fit in their backpacks. They get caught. The victims do not press charges but they do expect some community service. The parents spank them.

The girl tells a counselor at school about the spanking. The counselor tells the cops and the father gets arrested. There was no broken skin, no bruising. Just a wop on the ass.

If I had stolen and caused property damage, my parents would have beat the tar out of me. I would have deserved it. It would have never occurred to me to go crying to a counselor. Heck, I don't think we even had counselors when I was in elementary school.

As a libertarian, I abhor violence. On the other hand, I'd sure like to beat this counselor's ass.

A warning to parents: If you send your kids to a government indroctrination camp, be very careful what you say and do around your kids. The school encourages snitches.

Newzweak Story Causes Panic, Destruction

A story in the popular magazine, Newzweak, has created panic and death to thousands. The columnist, Mikl Itsacough, reported the incident of a five-year-old Colorado girl who got a thorn from an American Beauty rose bush embedded in her hand. This caused an infection which was very painful. Her parents were quite upset and decided to remove the rose bush with extreme prejudice.

Other mainstream news organizations quickly picked up the story and within days there was widespread panic. Roving bands of emotional parents started rioting; destroying every American Beauty rose within site. No American Beauty rose was safe as parents broke into backyards and flower shops to vent their wrath.

Unfortunately, the American Beauty was not the only victim. Non-horticulturist rioters were not as selective. As one said, "the only good rose is a dead rose".

As the riots raged on, Newzweak wrote a follow-up story stating that the girls' infection may have been caused by a splinter from a piece of playground equiptment. The damage had been done however. Millions of roses have been destroyed and tens of thousands of dollars of property damage has been caused.

Why the World Hates Us (Part 1?)

I have recently learned, through the good folks over at moveon, that the world hates us because of George W. Bush and our military involvement around the world. Fair enough.

Why are we in this position? Well, the Europeans could not keep Germany in check after the first time we bailed them out so FDR (a Democrat) sent us in to pull their butts out of the fire again. Afterwards, FDR and Harry Truman (another Democrat) established the Cold War. We played war with the Soviet Union for the next forty years. This expanded the influence of the U.S. globally. The final nail in the Soviet coffin was put in by Ronald Reagan (a Republican).

That was twenty years ago. What about now? Well, we still have military bases all over the world but we really don't do anything with them except maintain the status quo. No, the world hates us because of a city in southern California.

The product that gets produced in Los Angeles is one of our largest exports. It also happens to, according to its producers, accurately portray U.S. life and culture. I am writing about television and the movies.

God knows, I am certainly not a prude. My Deadhead friends will attest to that. But even I am offended by most of what I have seen come out of Hollywood for the last thirty-five years. If I were a more moral person, I would be downright pissed. I personally can't see how religious people can be as tolerant as they have been. If I were a Muslim living in an Islamic country, and my impressions of the United States were the impressions that came out of Hollywood, I would definitely view the United States as the most corrupt and immoral society in the world.

If Hollywood portrayed the United States as it really is we would have shows that showed what Americans really do day-in and day-out. You know: get up, go to work, work, come home, eat, watch tv, go to bed, start over again the next day. Boring, you bet. But it is at least an accurate portrayal of the life of Americans.

A stab at the Right

While giving the Left grief, it is assumed by those who do not know me that I am a supporter of those on the Right. It is true that on most issues I DO agree with many of the positions of Rightists. Often, my main disagreement with them is how they intend to get their policy positions enacted into law. Sometimes their positions are merely lip-service to their constituency and they have no intention on following through, or they have what appears to be a complete ignorance of the positions they profess to believe. Bob Dole carrying around a copy of the Tenth Amendment during the 1996 campaign is a good example. If he truly understood the Tenth Amendment and he believed in a strict interpretation of it, I would call him The Great Obstructionist rather than The Great Appeaser. As Minority Leader and Constitutionalist, he should have led more filibusters than the Senate had ever had.

More recently, mainstream Republicans are defending President Bush's Social Security plans as well as John Bolton's nomination as ambassador to the United Nations. Their defense is consent that we should have this program (Social Security) or be involved with this organization (the U.N.), rather than extricate ourselves from both.

This brings me to the real reason for this post, the war on drugs. For some reason, the party of smaller government seems to be the leader of this war. I have heard Sean Hannity and Bill O'Reilly speak more of the message legalization of drugs would send (an advocation of drugs) rather than the efficaciousness of the war itself. We know that drugs are still available despite a war that has gone on for nearly a century. But hey, what does that matter? At least the message is right.

They seem to think that the drugs are worse than the black market they created, or at least defend. By this logic, they think that some junkie lying next to a dumpster with a needle sticking out of his arm is worse than citizens having to sleep on their floors at night to keep from being hit by stray bullets. One cannot be avoided (the junkie), the other (the violence as a result of the black market) can be.

The Leftist leaders are just as complicit. Where is Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton? This war affects black Americans at a proportionately higher number than white Americans. Their silence, as well as the silence of the Democrat Party leadership is deafening.

The Libertarians are spot-on in this debate. If only there was one.

Anal Fixations and Karl Marx

In my April 14th post I mentioned Karl Marx. In my May 5th post I alluded to hemorrhoids. Today, we bring them together.

Karl Marx had such terrible hemorrhoids that he had to do all of his writing standing up. Could all of his anger at the bourgeoisie be a result of their not inventing a good ass-cream? Think about it. If it weren't for his angry ass, he might not of had an angry pen.

In my post, moveout.org, I was told by Chuckles to visit the DNC blog http://www.democrats.org/blog/archive/index.html. It was something that I had not thought of. Since I am always up for a good laugh, I gave it a try. What a lark.

Unfortunately, the banter is not as lively as moveon's. I am a trouble maker without a lot of time on my hands. It is no fun having to wait for two days to find out who I pissed off.

As far as the rhetoric is concerned however, these loons are just as crazy as the nutballs over at moveon.

The other day I laughed so hard that I shot a dirty martini out my nose. Pity, it was damn good vodka.

Cheap Health Care

A good friend just told me of some medical problems he has. The only advice I could give him is to stock up on soft toilet paper. He added, "and Preparation H". I told him that over-the-counter medications are a joke and that the doctors are the ones with the "good stuff".

This got me to thinking. Do I own my body like I own my car or house? If so, shouldn't I be responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of my body? Why shouldn't I be able to self- diagnose and self-treat myself? If I could, then I do not have to go to the drug dealers to make myself well.

By limiting my ability to make myself well, the government and the drug dealers have made health care prohibitively costly. The drug dealers and the insurance companies laugh all the way to the bank. The government succeeds in the only thing it does well: limit liberty.

What Happened to the GOP?

I thought the GOP was the party of small government. I just got some of my money back. The Feds ended up with thousands of MY dollars. For what? Just a bunch of bullshit that doesn't affect me except make me more poor.

Now I know that some of you will say things like: What about the roads? What about the schools? What about national security? And etc.

Well, I am not an anarchist and I realize that the government is necessary. That said, there are plenty of programs that should have never even been debated, much less acted upon.

If you want to engage in this debate, you must first challenge me.
